Slyder
In the Tennessean today it claims That the Stars were stayin in Franklin Co. overnight at a hotel. But, under TSSAA rules, in order to play in a game, the indidual, or the team in this matter, must attend school on the day of the game. So are the Stars eligible??? Did they find a loophole? 13sports
Can you actually show where that rule is? I don't believe that the rule is actually there. Many school systems, coaches, principals actually have a rule similar to this, but I don't believe the TSSAA has one. The players must be registered for classes and in regular attendance according to the TSSAA as I know. But that is as far as it goes. bigchief
That rule does not exist. Every team in the state tournament would be ineligible since they almost all stay in Murfreesboro for the week. Common sense
tdntn
where in this article does it say that?
Harris' hooligans
As long as its not an unexcused absense and it is school related you are fine.
Slyder
I just heard it through the grape vine, i wasn't sure about it or not.

A student/athlete must be present 1/2 day in order to play that night whether it is sickness, death, personal, or whatever. If the absence is school-related (and a tournament would be) they are eligible of course. Common sense would tell you if a team has to travel, they can't very well be rested to play. Many high school sports teams travel to tournaments and miss the academic day. It is legal.
noggin
the tssaa does not have any rule on school days. it is left up to local school boards.

itzme
The real question is why would they want to stay overnight? What is it, about a 60 minute drive?
