I remember a few years ago the NCAA was taken down a notch or two when some members bolted and formed a group for the BCS. Maybe it's time for some bolting among schools with the TSSAA. Why would a game be required at another gym that is bigger? Can you say "money?" Don't give the kids what they earned, let's give the organization a chance to make more money. The argument that it will be too full won't work. Gyms are packed across the state all year. Besides part of what the kids have earned with the win is the opportunity to play on their home floor in front of their home crowd in a packed gym. Our institutional inconsistencies keep making it hard for our kids to trust, they understand what's really going on.

This is not a situation unique to private schools. This is the second year in a row that Harpeth has had to find a close gym that will seat what the TSSAA requires. Last year they played sub-state at Fairview and this year its at Creek Wood. I've heard the plan is for Harpeth to add more seats to fit the minimum requirements this summer. Cheatham is a poor county (or let me re-phrase: won't spend money on the schools) and they deal with this stuff all the time. The TSSAA needs to wake up and stop punishing small, under-funded schools. Let them have home court advantage --- they earned it.

We are feeling your pain in Morristown, too! The Sub-State game between Morristown West and Powell will be played in Greeneville due to seating capacity. The West gym is about 100 seats short of the required 1500. The Lady Trojans have won 5 straight games in Greeneville including two championships so it almost feels like home. It is a real shame that the girls work so hard to earn the homecourt advantage and then have to play somewhere else.

Before the minimums were put into effect, we played an away game in the substate for guys. We had a 2.5 hour drive, got to the gym 2 hours before tip off (30 minutes ahead of the players bus) and the gym was full except for a section holding less than 100 people the host school had roped off for us. The gym held 500 people according to their AD. There is a difference between home court advantage and keeping anyone from the visitors from watching the game.

For the person that said..."build a bigger gym" what are u talking about

FRAs gym is small and been there since the school was built

The FRA squad wanted to play the game at a place in which they have plaed before and are comfortable with. Thats y they chose DCA bc they were always in FRAs district in singleA.

I think this rule is bull crap and now we have to go to a foreign gym to play a home section game. we won the region its out right to play where the heck we want.

    • We are optimistic because we will have another great season. You should keep your opinions on your Forrest Rocket board. These kiddos at Marion have had an amazing off season. They are working hard and it is showing. Coach TStark is getting these kids scholarships to get their college for free. Also Coach Harm is back so this is another awesome thing for our kiddos. Forrest will get theirs when they come to Bill Baxter Stadium this season. My main men Sam, Tay and Tilton are going to do amazing things this season. You should just watch and see what these kiddos are capable of doing. The Marion County Warriors are a force to be reckoned with again this year. East Robertson will be a good team again but that is the only big challenge this team will have again. If we can beat East Robertson like I know we can then we will go to the state championship and win the game. As always it is a great day to be a warrior. Go Warriors! We are Marion!
    • The player is only able to go because of the coach who is his dad. The dad is a recruiter not a good coach. HC blamed him for losing the Clinton game in the playoffs.
    • I coached both Copeland and Jordan along with Tanner Wilson, Ryan Weaver, Mason Sharp, and Caleb Rittenhouse to name a few.
