coachtut
I don't like metro football....Mcgavock, Whites Creek, and Glencliff are the only teams i think could maybe contend somewhere else....Antioch will have NO preston or cole, meaning no offense.... Year in, year out, Hillsboro has the best program in metro. The reason is-----Hillsboro has the best assistant football coaches in metro. All of them are qualified to be a head coach. The other metro schools are lucky to have afull staff that teach at the school where they coach.

I think RA would tell you that is a major key to their success over the last several years but, on what, exactly, do you base the rest of this statement? Have you met every coaching staff in Metro? Yes, I have met or observed in competion the staffs of the metro FB teams. I am not saying other staffs are bad, but HB's is the best. You said the rest are lucky to have a staff from that teaches at the school. Again, I agree that Ron has a very good staff, but you implied that the rest are not. What difference does it make where they teach? Do you learn a lot of football teaching at the same school? I can't say I ever became a better coach during the school day. And, by the way, it's competition not competion.

Well...you took the 70's...I'll take the 80's McGavock - w/ Elrod Overton - w/ Coutras and Mullican (which carried over to the early 90's) Edited April 5, 2006 by Lifer
TheBrooklynBrawler
in the 90s its gotta be pearl cohn with two state championships
workinprogress
Lifer---you said overton with coutras and mullican. which coaching staff was better, the one in the early eighties with coutras, or the one in the late eighties with mullican? I only ask because they were two completely different staffs.
workinprogress
I would say that one of the best staffs ever was the Overton staff of 1981. They won a state championship and i believe coutras had then ranked 11th in the nation. there was a lot of talent on the coaching staff. runtheball, weren't you on that staff.
