Alot of us already know who some of the top runners are in tennessee. But, I was wondering if anyone knows any high school freshmen runners with potential or if anyone has a compiled list of some of the fastest freshmen times.

thanks please post anything you know

In Middle TN some up and coming freshman for the 2006-2007 school year will be Ben "Speedy" Tankard from Head Middle and Blake Edwards, Jaz Davis and a little guy named Omi. They all faced off yesterday at TPS with MLK winning the meet but Speedy (who won the long jump at 19'10 and hurdles) and Blake (who won the highjump, 100 and 200m) shined last night. MLK's 4 x 100 is something to see (Blake, Jaz, Omi, Jason).

They will meet again next week in the district tournaments at Hillsboro.

well of course db has many fine young runners....but of course we know corey o'neill and jd hubmann who both ran the 800.

corey ran a 2:00 in the 800

jd ran a 2:02

these guys will be expexted to be on the 16:00 mark and for that "riley kid" or the "knox west no one umm well no one knows who to spell his name" he is a joke comparred to the talent of these two guys coming on there sophmore year. if u doubt it watch them run in the knox ville meet the first of cc season you will see them in the top 5 with of course the best runner in tennessee next year JOSH VASQUEZ!

Are you talking about Sonnenfeldt from Knox West? Because he's going to be blowing doors off the next 3 years.

thats probly the dumbest thing i have ever heard. next year the state will b dominated by sean keveren as far as distance goes. hes running sub 920 and sub 420. thats just sick for a sophomore. riley young is obviously the best current freshman but i think sean keveren is still the best young talent as a sophomore. there is also a sophomore at lipscomb, ryan johnson, that ran 958 and 432 so he'll be someone to watch over the next 2 years. those are my favorite underclassmen for each division

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
