That is an easy one. It has to be Sycamore. The War Eagles are a team that have failed to qualify for postseason play in each of the last two seasons BUT with the experience and talent they return that will not be the case in '06. Expect this to be a team that gets to the playoffs and don't be suprised if they make some noise in the month of November.

There is usually at least one team each year that surprises you in 1-3A and i think that team will be Rutledge. They return a lot of starters and can't possibly do much worse than they have the past couple years. Look for them to make a playoff berth.

Exactly Big Country, Sycamore is the most underrated team in 3A. They should have made the playoffs the past two seasons, but??? Sycamore does return alot of experience and talent like Big Country said. The depth won't be good, though. Sycamore has two "Super 44 Prospects" which is Austin Lohin(QB/S) and Willie Vanderford(TE/DE). These guys will make big plays on both of the sides of the ball if they stay healthy. Sycamore also has other guys that are going to step up and make plays too. Everybody on the Sycamore forum is doubtin Sycamore to even make the playoffs and some have them under .500. Look for Sycamore to go far into the 2006 playoffs in November.

Rutledge will be a bottom feeder team this year. They are scheduled to be homecoming for 5 different teams. Under rated....I think not !

Bottom feeders? Homecoming doesn't make that much of a difference. And they won a couple of homecoming games last year even as poor of a team as they was then. It wasn't that they didn't have talent. Its hard to win games when you play mostly sophmores who have never got their feet wet. The talented kids will have more experience and be ready to play under the lights. And by the way, they don't have homecoming that early in the season. It would be immpossible for them to have all their away games set for homecoming.

Big Country,

Who did Sycamore get to fill all those open coaching positions?

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
