2 Class in all DII Sports to be proposed at August B of C

Remember, too, that for the majority of the 30 years, there was only TWO teams in a region that advanced (each district champ) and only in THREE classes that included ALL schools, and often it was Maplewood or Stratford.

Now that there are FOUR teams that advance in each region, it's easier for a start-up school to get a break here or there and advance. Notice "easier" not "easy". The run Ravenwood made was pretty spectacular; now let's see if they can come close again.

As for McGavock, the west side of Nashville (old District 11-AAA) has traditionally been a stronger football district than 12-AAA (basically east side of the river). Basketball was usually (not always) the reverse. And, frankly, McGavock has a history of choking on big games. No offense intended, just an observation and opinion.

My point is that there is a lot more to the "tale of the tape" than numbers. If numbers were the most important predictor of success, then at a minimum, McGavock should at least be an annual contender for titles, if not regularly winning them. Not only are they not annually contending, they have a history of futility that is rare for a school that large. I'm sure there are plenty of good reasons for it; McGavock has always had good hoops and track teams.

Also, how many 5A teams do you think could beat Maryville right now? After all, they are all bigger, so at least most of the 5A teams should be able to beat them, right? But I would--if my life depended on it--take Maryville against everyone in 5A but Riverdale, even though they are smaller.

I'm an old 11-AAA alum and recall the "good 'ol days" when making the play-offs was a real challenge....there was undefeated Hillwood against undefeated MBA, last game of the season in 1990...for the 11-AAA title. Supposedly about 10,000 jammed into MBA that night. What a game.

    • so the players dad who is a recruiter is now at Oakland?
    • We are optimistic because we will have another great season. You should keep your opinions on your Forrest Rocket board. These kiddos at Marion have had an amazing off season. They are working hard and it is showing. Coach TStark is getting these kids scholarships to get their college for free. Also Coach Harm is back so this is another awesome thing for our kiddos. Forrest will get theirs when they come to Bill Baxter Stadium this season. My main men Sam, Tay and Tilton are going to do amazing things this season. You should just watch and see what these kiddos are capable of doing. The Marion County Warriors are a force to be reckoned with again this year. East Robertson will be a good team again but that is the only big challenge this team will have again. If we can beat East Robertson like I know we can then we will go to the state championship and win the game. As always it is a great day to be a warrior. Go Warriors! We are Marion!
    • The player is only able to go because of the coach who is his dad. The dad is a recruiter not a good coach. HC blamed him for losing the Clinton game in the playoffs.
