Lone Oak,Ky @ OCCHS Rebels

Recommended Posts

Obion Co. Central defeated the Purple Flash from Lone Oak,Ky., today 3 TD's to 0.....Obion Central pretty well dominated this scrimmage...OC's JV scored three TD's and the team had one TD that would have counted off a turnover in a real game...The Purple Flash scored two TD's off the Rebel second and third string with Lone Oak playing their first string offense,on the last two series of the scrimmage...OC's line dominated up front on both sides of the ball..Logan Parker ran the veer efficiently...The Rebels surprised the home crowd coming out passing..Garrett Grady,Adam Battles and Mark Grooms looked good coming off their injuries from a year ago....One thing I noticed in this scrimmage was OC's attitude...They played with a swagger and an edge to them that I haven't seen coming from this program....They had some real hard licks passed out today and were more aggressive than they have been in the past....Some of the things that need to be corrected was coverage in the secondary. The Flash had a good QB and one talented wide receiver and those two hurt the Rebels on a number of occasions...Logan threw a couple bad interceptions and the receivers dropped three or four passes that would have gone for either long gains or scores..The Rebels are going to have depth in their slots and secondary positions and that is a good thing....The Purple Flash are not the most talented team in the world...They would finish in last in the rugged Region 7-3A,but the Rebels beat them handily in a game they should have won handily...That's a good sign....They will get a stern test next Friday afternoon when the Mustangs of Huntingdon visit Troy....But this was a good game to have as an opener to the fall pre-season...As far as injuries,Zach Clouse had to taken to the hospital for a cut on the bridge of his nose, but he later returned to the practice field and should be ready to go Monday.Lone Oak finished last season 5-5 in 2A....They will move up to Class 4A in Kentucky's new watered-down playoff system next season.....

Sounds like a good day. Good to hear you had a balance offense.

Many yrs ago, Lone Oak had very good teams in baseball and football.

Lone Oak's football tradition is not stellar,at least since 1990..They were 35-69 from 90-99 with one winning season...That coming in 1991 and made the playoffs in 91 and 92.....They are 20-42 since 2000 with one winning season....That coming in 04..They were 6-5 including a loss to Glasgow 43-7 in the first round of the playoffs....They also made the playoffs in 03 before losing to Owensboro Cath. 49-6 to end a 5-6 year....

Like I said...I don't remember the Flash being very good in the last 20 years.
