I was thinking the samething :thumb: ...........except for Alcoa, after the post from the Great FBmertius:

"Well I don't think it will be the game of the year and Maryville will again soundly beat Alcoa, Period!

To many playmakers, to sharp, to tested, to physical, deep ect.."

Maybe the game of the year if Alcoa should beat Maryville, but if not it will be just another game I guess. I'll see you there, come early and line up Maryville won't open the gates before 5PM for anyone.

By the way I still think Maryville will soundly beat Alcoa.

Ouch!!! I don't have a dog ( or a 'Cat ) in this hunt but it sounds like the Oak Ridge fans are ready to lynch the coach , players, waterboy, and cheerleaders over a scrimmage. It's early and Oak Ridge is always tough, wait and see. Plus the Alcoa teams are always tough as well. Smaller schools tend to get geared up more than larger schools in pre-season events like this. Heres wishing both schools a safe and successful season.

yep, I was there, Alcoa put it on us pretty good. But the key word here is scrimmage. Our defense is alot better when Charlie Samuels is in the middle at LB, he was injured. Kevin Helton at D-end, he was injured. We also are trying to get some young guys to step up in the secondary, but that is slow in coming around. Two starters in the secondary that didn't play are Paul Bingham and ,like it or not ,Connor G. The d is much better with these four on the field. I'm not making excuses, we got our butts kicked. But we were trying to find out who else can play and help us. Also, Alcoa is going to make alot of good teams look bad this year, they are LOADED with size, speed, and athleticism. I tip my hat to Rankin and the Tornadoes, they are very, very good.

Oak Ridge will be fine. I get a kick out of you guys that run down the team and criticize a bunch of young kids working hard and doing the best they can. This is why we practice to; identify strengths and weaknesses and address them. One thing I've learned about preseason scrimmages is that it's never as good as it seems, and it's never as bad as it seems. It's a work in progress. Be patient, Go Cats!

Most sensible post in this thread. Good luck to the Cats.

If you review, I don't think any OR fans posted on this thread.

mhs,

Being from OR doesn't make you an OR fan. Some are just haters and are against any success and just try to tear stuff down.

Ole Dad

I meant true OR fans. Sorry.

I thought Nick Orlando and wildcatman1977 were Oak Ridge fans. They both posted on page one. Guess I was wrong.

Hey ImaOwl,

Ball carriers for the Cats are seniors Paul Bingham and Kevin Helton and qb Conner Guilmire. We have a couple scat backs as well in Brandon Jones and Jared Stephens, they're little guys, but they CAN scoot! Paul is alot like Spencer, but obviously not quite as good, strongest man on the team lb for lb. Kevin has been injured on and off since he's been on the team, but looked good Friday against Cookeville, MBA, and Blackman. Conner is terrific in the open field when he pulls it down and takes off with it. Conner's rushing will be a big part of the offense this year. I think he has a chance to rush for 1,000 and throw for 1,000.

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
