Are celebratory fireworks legal or illegal? I was under the assumption they were illegal....but....just wondering..

You have to have the permision of the school your at, and you must ask permision from the TSSAA. After that the only rule is that fireworks cannot be going off during the game. So you can fire them after the game, or when the team runs out, or halftime... ect.

If thats the case, the TSSAA needs a visit to Knox Carter High...(of course, if the other team stops them from scoring, then its all good)

But every score from Carter brought off fireworks there....which left a really smoky environment, not to mention the close proximity of the stands there left one awry explosive looking like a scud missle as it headed towards the away stands...

We had this issue a few last year at Smith County. We've had fireworks since 1995 up until last year. We still have fireworks now but we moved them off school property. It became an important part of our school tradition and played apart of the football atmosphere. And some playoff school team (not mentioned)called it in on us. There is nothing wrong with it. If its ok with the community, it should be aloud. It is mainly for the fans to get into, and the young kids that come to the game love them. :thumb:

I am not sure about school, TSSAA or city & county regulations but I do know that they have to have a "Fireworks Display" permit from the State of Tennessee Department of Insurance and Commerce. The permit Fee is $50.00 per event which in this case would be each game and must have a minimum insurance coverage and the person shooting the fireworks must be adequately trained.

If a school fails to do this then they can be charged with a misdemeanor for each offense..... Which possibly could bring a 11 month 29 day sentence and a hefty fine.....

If you shouyld have any questions about this call the State of Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance - division oFire Safety - Fireworks Permits and they can tell you all about the law.

PTS, maybe that's the reason the Fightin' Chickens couldn't score. BWHAHAHAHA

I personally think it's great when the Public Address announcer is giving us commericals when a player is down on the field and an ambulance was on the field.

99-0 in two games OUCH.

Yes. I did have a few words with that PA announcer over that 2 years ago. First thing I told the new PA announcer there, too.

As for the smoke, I think Coach Crawford and Coach Woods still have a buzz, which may be why Coach Woods was throwing with 2:20 left....

    • I’ve known a few players who went through TKA, and the only problem is the line, like athletes up there are easy to come by. There’s been great athletes came through TKA. It’s just they can never find a line and the ones they do aren’t that good.
    • Pretty sure it’s the school he is zoned for, but TKA wasn’t sure if they were going to have a football team this upcoming season, like a months ago. A lot of the good players hit the hay, mainly to GP, but a few went to Concord, which is a school in Knoxville, making a lot of questionable promises, and the rest just went back home to places like Clinton, South Doyle, Seymour, etc.
