It won't be a blow out but Crockett county will win convincingly.

[/quot} ---------------- you maybee wright but i wouldnt bet too much on it if i was you,,, crockett is a great team, and so far they have had better atletes than the other teams they have played, but that will not be a case this week, this game will be determind by coaching and mental preparation,, and who hold on to the football, had crockett not fumbled twice last year the game would have been closer, both teams must hold on to the football and exicute

I don't buy the peaking too early theory...That's an excuse..How can you not be ready for a playoff game???...In this region you have to bring your "A" game every Friday...Dyersburg ran the table,a major accomplishment I might add,and they got as reward a 2-8 Sheffield Knight team that they simply overlooked...They already had their sights set on Week 12 and it came up to bite them in the rear end...Plain and simple.... :thumb:

I think these two teams are mirror images of each other...What will win this game will be found in the intangibles...Turnovers,penalties and the thing I think will be most important, where it's played...Dyersburg has yet to play Covington or Crockett on the road....The Trojans had the luxury of getting Haywood,Covington and Crockett in Dyersburg last year...We'll see if the Trojans can handle playing in what will be a packed house in Alamo....I think Crockett Co will win a very close game...Maybe by a late FG....

i can assure you that dyersburg nor the coaching staff overlooked sheffield... i was there everyday for practice......i was also there for the team/family meal on thursday, to hear coaches talk about how dangerous sheffield could be.....

the coaching staff worked hard to prepare the team for that game.....

if you had attended all 11 games last year, you would have seen a team that was focused and instense in their first 5 games....

starting with game 6, for whatever reason, dburg had a hard time staying focused and they failed to improve....the coaches tried everything they could......some blamed the #1 rankings, some blamed the two week fall break, some blamed the dyer county fair....some blamed the full moon, and some blamed that witch over in crockett county that put a hex on the team....

NOW THOSE WERE EXCUSES, since you seemed to be looking for one......

like the west tn guru himself keeps reminding us (wally m!), is that these are 15-17 year old kids...... are you willing to bet the farm on a 15-17 year old?

i have been associated with and close to the dyersburg high school sports program for 22 years........ i may know a little about trojan sports.....not a whole lot, but maybe a little.....

the 2006 team has a long way to go to reach their potential......and they appear to get a little bit better each week......

and for that i am all :thumb::blink::lol::lol:

i believe you HATE ON DYERSBURG due to the fact that obion got crushed by crockett, i believe you and everyone else in region 7aaa want to see dyersburg fail, dyerburg has played dyercounty on the road in the past and has played covington ,haywood, and many other hostal teams on the road in the past, and been secussful, the game of football is played on the field not in the crowd, no one has homefield in the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP do they, after friday night you and all the other hatters in region 7aaa wil have no choice but to give credit were due,,, keep bringing the shefield game up its great motivation to dyersbug kids its still in their minds and dont worry shefield would have beatin oc as well they beat dyersburg and haywood last season and i believe both teams beat oc by 2 touch downs...and as far as on the road, cav stadium isnt has bad as haywood or rothrock pal B)

The claim that Dyersburg "overlooked" Sheffield last season is not factual. I am the statistician at Dyersburg, coached there for 10 years, and taught at DHS for 40 years. I watched film of Sheffield with the coaches on game week last year. We all realized how tough they were going to be. We knew that they had beaten Haywood, had lost by single digits to Lexington (also undefeated), Trezevant, Brighton and had lost in overtime to Mitchell. We knew they had played only 3 games with a complete offensive team. Worse, we knew they had a back (Price) who was the best we had faced and who we could not be sure of containing, no matter what our defensive scheme was. I personally prepared a one-page sheet on Sheffield, "Why Dyersburg Cannot Overlook Sheffield," and left it with the coaches. On Thursday, a copy was placed in the locker of every player. Moreover, on Thursday night before the game. the Dyersburg Booster Club held a dinner honoring our team, and Coach Counce read the sheet to the entire group.

During practice the entire week, no mention was made of any other team. Dyersburg did not practice for Crockett County, Covington, or Haywood; the Trojans practiced for Sheffield--and they lost.

Incidentally, I considered Sheffield a more dangerous team going into the playoffs than either of the 3 other teams from 7 3-A. I attended the Sheffield-Crockett County game the next week after our elimination. Crockett County won, but not before a real struggle. Crockett County was up by 7 when Sheffield drove to the Crockett County 6, where they had 1st and goal. Tailback Price, the best runner I saw all year, did not touch the ball on the next 4 plays, 2 of which were passes and all of which failed. Even so, Sheffield came back in the second half and scored what would have been a go-ahead touchdown, but it was called back, and Crockett County won 24-14 before losing to Covington 24-7 in Week Two.

It is impossible to know what is in the minds of teenagers, but I DO know that the coaches and other close observers did not "overlook" Sheffield, and I don't know of any credible evidence that the Trojans did.
