Just curious, but does anyone know what kind of player Watson was at MTSU? Oakland???

I do know b/c I saw him play at both places. We moved to TN when he was in HS and playing and we followed OHS at that time. He was my son's favorite player. He played hard every play...never gave up....fought tooth and nail every play. Had the heart of a champion. He may not have had the most talent or athletic ability, but he had courage and heart. He walked on at MTSU ...and gained a starting spot as a Jr on the line. how

Sad to see how he adopted that Boots Donnelly attitude and it shows in how he treats his own players. Total arrogance.

Makes you wonder what happened?

He reminds me of a young Alsup.

Ok its time to see everyones pre season region picks. I have posted various ones throughout the year but now is the time to put the final pre season up. save them and see how you did at years end.

1.SMYRNA - not a homer pick here they have the talent to get it done and with all the new really good football coaches they hired they finally have the staff to get better fundamentally at every position. The first practice yesterday had the feel and the pace of college practice.

2. WILSON CENTRAL - good soph class in 05 and very solid qb

3. RIVERDALE - good coach and enough talent to stay in the hunt but loss of talent, new system and new coach will hurt

4. LEBANON - lots of young skill talent in 05 and that maniac coach has proven he can succeed with skill players ( purely my darkhorse )

5. LAVERGNE - everyone has seen spread offense and by years end it was fizzling bad with as many ints as tds.

6. OAKLAND - good fresh and sophs in 05 should help msut have consistent passing games or will drop to last

7. SIEGEL - got every bounce and every break in 05 and still barely beat even most bad teams

8. BLACKMAN - 2 good players

Not everyone was suprised about Lebanon !

* but I was equally off on wc

    • Congratulations to Huntingdon and Station Camp. Lots of good softball in Tennessee. Alcoa been media favorite last two seasons.
    • Im more of a Basketball follower than football and like I said we play what we have, there is no going and recruiting or even talking kids into transferring…..and to rebut about Memphis teams in finals I’ve watched Memphis East and Penny Hardaway with the enrollment of a single A team play up and dominate any and all challengers for years! They aren’t the only ones either Mike Miller and son at Germantown put together that super team a couple years ago that ran through the rest of the state! Other teams from Memphis or Chatt or Nash or any large populated area pop up and are relevant out of nowhere every year because they get an influx of talent be it from a new coach or AAU affiliations it happens in football also just like any other sport! I hope these two schools that close join together and get to play the team you support, then you may see it differently! I find it funny some of you think recruiting and resources don’t matter . The county schools get very little funding also but you don’t want to get me started on that part!
    • In a total classless move, Coach Simmons once again shows his true colors. Waits till the day after school is out to let everyone know he is leaving. Fails up to a community college job after a lackluster 2 year span at GH. And do not tell me about the state run that saved a sub .500 season and plenty of whippings by Cookeville and Lebanon.  Looks like the girls job at GH is cursed. Terrible MS program/coaches feeding what is turning out to be a joke of a HS team.
