Who are some of the top defenders in the state? Goalkeepers always get the credit for the shutout and get named and credited in the paper for saves. Forwards get to post their stats with goals and assists. Sometimes the midfielders get a mention with a goal or an assist. The defenders have to stop the score, help the goal keeper, play midfield at times, etc. and never make the paper or the stats. Some of the great soccer players in Tennessee play defender. Let's hear who the real soccer players at defense are????

Haley Hull at Ravenwood...very physical!

 

Taryn Brown at Hendersonville is very good!!

Anna Grace Gerhart and Abbey Roark of Siegel (although the keeper has also been great this year!)

 

 

Anna Grace,well duh,she can stop just about anybody.Abbey not really,she's just really physical and runs people over. As for there keeper,haven't seen her make any impressive stops this year. From the games i have been at and watched,she let a couple go through her hands she should have stopped. But another one you forget is maggie trollinger whos a sophomore and has great potential

Serena Allen is one of the top defenders from Farragut. For some reason she gets recognition for offense but is a much stronger defender. Just ask any team who has played against her

Siegel's entire back four has played well this year, and as for your keeper comments, she has only given up 4 goals this entire season(not counting scrimmages), two of which no one could have saved and I have seen every game. She has made several great stops this year.

Notre Dame's back four anchored by Maggie Lynskey are extremely tough and fast. They play anywhere from a 6 to 8 player rotation and have given up 3 goals in 9 games. They have posted 7 shutouts (6 in a row) and have played some of the toughest schools in the state.

CAK has many good defenders. Callie Jerngian a softmore great defender very fast and Justine Belk both great fullbacks.
