An interesting note about Reggie White: he was also a great basketball player being named All State (basketball), Chattanooga's top basketball player his senior year and the nations top two sport athelete.

that is good information about Reggie i did not know that about him, i guess his football career just kind of put a blanket over his basketball career in high school

Any list without Gerald Riggs Jr. is not a very credible list. I remember one game in particular. It was in 2001 or 2002 (whichever year they won state) playoffs. Stump had come out and said that Ooltewah's D line that year was the best he'd ever seen. So in the second round of the playoffs Riggs ran all over the Owls fore more than 250 yds and I believe 6 TD's as RB beat Ooltewah something like 56-7. Like someone said earlier, Riggs absolutly dominated the field in his short time at Red Bank. I believe his senior year, ESPN had him as the #1 overall prospect coming out of high school (not just at running back, but overall). He has to be on the list.

And my homer pick of course, Patrick Flanagan. He's only the areas all-time leading rusher.

I'm limiting my list to the acknowledged Chattanooga Metropolitan area and here it is.

1) Reggie White - Howard

2) John Hannah - Baylor

3) Andy Kelly - Rhea County

4) Eric Westmoreland - Marion County

5) Eddie Moore - South Pittsburg

6) Bobby Scott - Rossville

7) Charlie Hannah - Baylor

8) Joe Steffy - Baylor (Outland Trophy Winner, College HOF)

9) Tommy Taylor - City (not Phoenix III or Performing Arts or whatever its called now)

10) Bobby Hoppe - Central (Dodds Ave., not Harrison)

I don't include Gerald Riggs, Jr. (classic underachiever) nor Dante Hickey. Hickey didn't even play in college (did try to go JUCO in Mississippi, but flunked out) and that keeps him off of my list. I did add 1 Georgia player, but Walker County is officially in Metro Chattanooga. There isn't an official order, just a TOP 10.
