Yes, BB is the sport of choice over there. One thing I've noticed about the RBS Football program, the roster is small. A friend of mine in the community told me that they've never heard of the team or booster club having a fund raiser such as a chili supper or ham breakfast. I remember my days in high school, the various clubs and groups would get out and have a car wash, sell donuts, candy bars, etc... It would seem they need to show alittle interest so that the community would be more willing to give them support. Despite their record, enthusiasm goes along way.

Some of the common things you see in all successful football programs large & small is support thru the school administration; from the principal down thru the teachers & support staff, successful programs have excited & enthused administrators. Successful programs also develop a strong athletic booster group and have excellent relations with the local community. I believe all of these items are ESSENTIAL in establishing a strong football program.

If you have have school boards/principals etc. that resist every step of the way you are fighting an uphill battle. These are the the folks who say, "Why should we change? It's always been like this..yada yada" or people who have their own personal agendas. I believe there are some football programs around the state that have been stuck in or at the bottom of their regions year after year simply because of non-support by the administrations & community. Good coaches are blamed, run off, replaced with other good coaches, receive no support, fail to meet success, blamed etc. etc. A continuous cycle....

I'll get off my soap box now. I just wish that schools such as RBS could taste the success they work so hard for; they may not have the largest number on the scoreboard, but as far as I'm concerned every one of those kids are a winner in life to me!

Good post. I think these young men playing show more class than all the ones holding the program back. The ones holding the program back need to take lessons from the Kids. How they are able to think they are doing their job? They should rethink the situation. The kids are crying out, the administration is not listening. Remind you of a bigger administration? Personal agendas has become leadership traits from the bottom to the top in almost every administration now days. They are so arrogant they cant accept anyone should disagree with their personal agendas. They are not there to represent, they are there to accomplish their own goals. I think in this case its to consolidate the schools. After all its the only action laid on the table for debate by the administration. Its like take this or continue to suffer. Basketball has saved them so far. If that fails, consolidation is the the only option. once the good ole boys get in its hard to get rid of them. They are like roaches. They multiply over night.

Mo you are dead on. Consolidation seems to be the only answer. Admin is not behind them. Noone in their own community will step up to help either (no fundraiser, no alumni help). What other options are open if people in RBS won't even step up themselves?

i think in a couple of years you will see them on the winning side of things they might not win the region but they will have good seasons and they will keep building on to them and they will make it to to the top someday they just have to keep with it and going out and giving it their all and they will get that ship turned around

If they will hire me as head coach, I promise we will go 5-5 by next season and 8-2 the one after. :D

RBS 8-2 in their region, thanks for the laugh. In order to be eight and two(or 5-5) they would have to play 3 non region pansies and travel 3hours plus to get their and they would have to beat two of these three(Friendship, Gordonsville, Trousdale)and the likes of Monterey, Watertown ,Clay Co.and Mt Juliet Christian. RBS.

As far as naming a new head coach, I know Coach Boles, and If he thought a new coach was the answer ,he would step down tomorrow. But until the team gets more athletes and more coaches that know how to coach football, it will be same song, different verse, even with a new coach, because the administration will not hire quality coaches and enough of them for the school at RBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
