I agree with:

Kids are lazy, and I guess it is a reflection of their parents. Most kids will not commit to anything - and parents let them get away with it.

 

I am not into the coach discussion, but when somebody puts down today's kid I have to disagree. I have coached football since 1976 and kids are no different now than they was back then. They are not lazy and will commit to the team. I see it every day.

Most kids spends many more hour working out and practicing in their sport today than just 20 years ago. When I was growing up (when kids was not lazy) very few players ever lifted weights and worked out. Most had to work a job like I had to. Todays players has more placed on them than any players in history.

I am not taking about parents. Parents are usually the problem not the "lazy Kids of today. I would like to walk you through the day of my son. There is not much time to be a kid with the demands of most sports.

When you put it that way, and I think about it, you are right about the demands of kids in athletics regarding travel teams and offseason workouts. I just think society as a whole has changed and a lot kids (and parents) are more centered around the "me" aspects of sports

The freshman team on the sidelines is not the best idea IMO, don`t have a problem with particular freshman being on the varsity but not the entire team. I do think there needs to be a greater involvement and attention to the freshmen, instead of them just being the forgotten team that plays before the JV.

I do think the JV should practice w/ varsity during individual drills and then break off when varsity goes to team time. What better way to get your future players prepared than by learning how the coach's want it done during the 9th grade year.

I think it's funny how easily people can trash the players who started the lawsuit. It's also funny how people recommend that there be a meeting with the parents, Mr. Schnietman, and Coach U. Do you not think people have tried talking to the principlal? Do you think the players who started the lawsuit really wanted to? There have been people talking to people in authority and what good has it done? Atleast the lawsuit has opened people's eyes. Everyone talks about coach bashing, but all I hear is people bashing the ones who started the lawsuit. Some of the ones who are playing now also signed the petition.

I would blame the parents that started the lawsuit - not the players. Yes, I would believe people have talked to the AD and principal, and yes I would believe that it did no good.

That is what Coach U said, but once they are alone one on one, then any thing that is said its coach's word against the player. He would not meet with them as a team.
