This is just horrible. Read the article before watching the video.

By rule, the call was correct. Rule states that player cannot do anything to bring attention to himself. When the player stretches out both arms, he's bringing attention to himself. NF Case Book says it's not a penalty for briefly raising ball above the player's head, which he did.

You can argue whether it was an appropriate call, but by rule it was the correct call.

Hey chuckm are you an ump? case book may state that drawing attention to youself is a penalty but this is extreme. This kid was not doing anything crazy..next they will be calling penalties for any communication on the field.

I think the whole point is that the people enforcing the rules need to exercise judgement - if a player stands still in the endzone and bows his head one could argue that he's calling attention to himself, since people notice what he's doing. When the rules are enforced with no judgement you will occasionally have stupid outcomes, like this one.

That was on the local news up here quite a bit. Worst call I've seen since Florida got jobbed in Knoxville a couple years ago with the unsportsmanlike penalty.

THat wasnt a bad call at all! THe Flordia player deserved what he got and the Tennessee player jjust didnt get caught! Stuff like that happens all the time in games but not everytime they are going to get caught! That call that we are talking about on here tho was pretty crazy!

    • I have no clue if Derek tried to talk some since into his dad or not about staying here. All he is going to accomplish is going from the oven to the frying pan. If I were the coach all Ale would freze over before I set back and watched one of my good players leave without a fight.
    • If this is true, South Gibson is taking a big chance. Passing on an experienced coach for a guy who has never coached at the high school level is a high risk move, especially in that district and region.
    • Dorian Eskridge was HVA's best back, 2011
    • Jo Byrns was a very solid team last year. Imo, I thought they presented the biggest challenge for us on our path to winning it all last year. I expect them to be in the conversation and one of the final few teams playing in Murfreesboro
    • I'm not sure you understand anything if you think DB's career and AD's career are comparable.  This is a terrible take.   Not to slight AD, He was a good player and he got better as he matured after high school.   But Desean had over 8,000 yards in HS and was a two-time Mr. Football.
