Will Greeneville Coast to the State?

Never said Terrence is " so much better". And...FYI Coaches don't just recruit all the best players in the state. They have to fit into their "plan" for the team. Locking at who is graduating and what they have of player for how long.

And don;t think for a min. that Justin Hare from Cleveland, and Humphry from Maryvill were not good enough. Neither of which are doing too shabby.

Hey, Antwain is the man though!

Yeah but your examples aren't in the "Bruce Pearl" era

By the way I like Oglesby and wished Pearl had at least gave him a look. Was asking more as wondering but also see Wiggins as a real talent and hate to see Pearl keep passing on "local kids". Pat Summit and Phil Fulmer could teach him one there. I love Pearl. Love his passion for the game and his intensity. I just think the UT programs have a need to support the community that supports them. Buzz failed to realize that and it may have more of a factor than you will hear publicly.

While I agree Wiggins is the best player left unsigned in Tennessee, Bruce Pearl doesnt need him. Remember that Wiggins is more than likely going to be playing a 2 guard spot in college, and UT is already pretty much set at that position. Pearl is gonna try and find a big man for post play. Anyway back to Wiggins, I do believe he will go D1 and whoever gets him will put a few lbs on him and he will be a dominant force in college as well! Good luck to him

No doubt Wiggins is a good player, but since Greenville has only played one top notch tem, Bradley Central, it would be foolhardy to predict they will coast through the State tournament. Even Science Hill is not much of a powerhouse. Wait until they get through the first few rounds against some of the top Knoxville teams that they haven't faced so far, and then we can talk about it.

I think they played a couple of pretty good teams at the Arby's this year. And the topic was coast TO state not through it.

No... they've got a lot of work to do to survive regions. Figure out how to get the ball to Twaine down low. He can dominate there at the high school level. But, as we saw against SHHS, he needs to get

1. Quicker- he couldn't keep up with Omar at all on defense, and his "first step" was negated by a quicker defender.

2. Stronger- he was outmuscled by Wattad every time he got the ball, it seemed like he was getting the ball more and more away from the goal as the game progressed.

3. Stamina- he tires out easily. I know your gonna say 'He plays the whole game", but he is noticeably winded at the end of games, and that hasn't changed since the AAU season. He was a little under conditioned then, and still has improvement to make in that regards.

Also, to make it in regionals they need someone BESIDES Twaine to step up. Gash was negated by Bigger Guards, Ottinger was negated by stronger guards. Other posts lacked size, they have a ways to go., not much depth either.

Greeneville does have a good team this year. While Wiggins is the key to their success, Gash and Anderson need to play well for them to continue to win. I think that Greeneville easily takes the IMAC this year (although no-one should overlook Cherokee-They can be a lot tougher than most people realize) and then they should win the region, but past that its a toss-up in my opinion. Once they get to sub-state they are all gonna have to step it up if they want to win. A mediocre performance won't cut it at that level. It will be interesting to see how it all unfolds. I am sure Coach Duncan will have them ready for whoever comes there way, and if they do lose, I really don't see it being by more than 6 or 8 points.

Easily takes the IMAC..... c'mon you gotta give some of the other teams credit here. Well the only school that has a chance is probably, well is Cherokee and they had Greenville down 20 at home but had a hard time finishing the game. So I think it's oging to be interesting I take Cherokee this time by +10.

GHS does have a pretty good team and like you said I don't see them getting blew out by anyone either.

I look forward to seeing how Wiggins does against Coty Sensabaugh from DB. He has kept Wattad in check the two games they have played. I'm sure he'll be the one to guard Wiggins. Coty is going to be both quicker and stronger. I wonder if he'll frustrate Wiggins the way he did Omar.

Wattad scored 15 points the first game and 20 points the second  . What kind of “check” are you talking about?

I wasn't aware that he scored 20, but I thought it was more like 13, but I checked and you are right. I wasn't at the game Tuesday night, but I saw the first game b/t DB and SH. Coty was clearly taking Omar out of his game frustrating him. I don't think anyone is going to shut him down, but Coty can make the night difficult for him. If Omar doesn't beat you, no one else on Science Hill is going to beat you.

I think Wattad had 11 going into the 4th qtr tues. night. Sensabaugh did a great job of defending him. Wattad was very frustrated and was even having trouble hitting foul shots. Morgan backed off the pressure in the 4th. qtr. and thats when Wattad got hot. Morgan almost let Science Hill back in the game.

    • Pickett is good, may have a Mr. Football like season if he’s used correctly. One of the best teams Marion has fielded in a while. I think they go 12-1 and loose to ER.  ER has better players at almost every position. If they play discipline this year, they win soundly. If they don’t though…Marion could sneak away with it.
    • I’m betting the house on the Indians. Pickett and Co will be the only team to challenge the Indians in the East. Huntingdon can in the West. I think Brooks goes 15-0 and has the first perfect season and state championship in ER history.
    • Sounds like a great opportunity has opened up for the football team.  With the head coach of the diamond rebels making it official and quitting this week, there should be some room for the gridiron guys to benefit. I assume the administration won’t continue paying six figures to two former coach that quit to continue teaching drivers Ed. Thats pretty good money that could be redirected toward the football program. Also, with the more recent policies of pushing kids to only play one sport, abolishing the baseball program altogether would help on Friday nights in the fall. There is some decent speed on that baseball team that should’ve been playing on Fridays IMO. I’m not sure if anybody would really miss that baseball program anyway with it being across town from the school. The liability of letting players actually use the facilities could also be mitigated with closing the program. That liability seems to be a really big issue for 825. Anyway, it seems like a great opportunity is available.
