Well, I've had a couple people respond to the plea for a bobcat here on CoachT. Thanks, everyone, we have someone and a back up if he can't get it done.

As to the play day

Had a call last night from a school that was in last year and someone, not me, promised them they could be this yr, SO, I'm shuffling the schedule a little.

SQHS vs Jeff CO at 1:00

SQHS vs Boyd Buchanan at 2:05

I'm not sure about #3, it will be later, if I can get referee support for the late entry it will be about 4:30.

Games start at 8:15 on both fields and the field is...

Loudon, Sweetwater, McMinn Central, Seymour, Kings Ac, Greenback, TPHS, Rhea Co, Oliver Springs, Boyd, Jeff Co, Walker Valley and SQHS.

Can't believe this thread dropped all the way to page 4! I thought there were some bright spots in the scrimmage against Loudon. The opening drive was a very nice drive ending in the end zone. Then if you take away the 2 turnovers for TD'S it was a close ballgame. I know I seen a much improved Sequoyah team in this game as comparred to the scrimmage against Loudon in the Spring. I was also pleased to see such a good crowd for the game. Coalfield comes in tomorrow but I know very little about them. I do know they were a very good team last year. Hope to see another good crowd for this game as well.

I know this is about Seq, but I was just wondering how the youth teams looked? I was in Sweetwater taking Knoxville Knights photos and didn't get a chance to make it. I know Sweetwater beat Tellico I believe in all four games, but I only know some of the scores. Also how did Madisonville and Vonore do? Thanks, and glad to hear you guys held your own against Loudon.

I also thought there were several positives from Friday's scrimmage. For one that was a pretty good Loudon football team, and we proved we could compete with them. The turnovers are something that can be fixed. And the defense looked much improved from what we have been seeing in years past. Hoping to see some leadership start to shine, maybe this will happen tomorrow.

Cutters game was Vonore 6 Midway 0. I thought the coaches learned a lot about which boys were going to step up against good competition in the Loudon scrimmage. They were a lot bigger and in many cases stronger than us. The main thing I saw was the aggressiveness has definitely picked up from a year ago. There was some fierce hitting at times and I LIKED IT! We better be ready to hit today, because those hard-nosed Coalfield boys will bring it. They may be a smaller classification, but they compete with some of the so-called big boys year in and year out. Coach Kreis has been there a long time, and has built a strong program. It will definitely be a good test for us.

Do you know what time the scrimmage starts? I heard 5:30, but I wasn't sure.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
