QUOTE(steal3rdbase @ Apr 27 2007 - 09:49 PM) 826447199Riverdale has something to play for tomorrow. If they lose, and Warren Co. manages to sweep Lebanon, Riverdale will see themselves sitting on Oakland's side of the bracket.

If blackman wins they will be in that bracket anyways correct? because blackman holds the tie breaker over riverdale

QUOTE(magoo043 @ Apr 27 2007 - 09:09 PM) 826447173Oakland 8, White County 7.

UGLY game

UGLY doesn't come close to describing the White Co. v. Oakland game. I have never seen a worse officiated baseball game in my life. I won't even address the ball/strike calls as you get those questioned every game; however, the homeplate umpire blew soooo many calls it was amazing. Not to take anything away from Oakland, they are a great team but tonight White County was better. White Co. had more hits (13-10) fewer errors (0-2) and still lost by one. The umpire misses two obvious calls down third base line and the clincher was the call at home plate. White Co. was up 4-3 when a play at the plate, which was not even close, the umpire called the runner out. This wasn't a close call that could go either way, this was an obvious blown call. The runner beat the throw by 2 steps and had slid across the plate before the throw gets there and the umpire calls him out.. I know Oakland will agrue he was out but the White Co. sports editor has a clear convincing photo which clearly shows how bad the ump. blew the call. This play broke the backs of a determined White Co. team. The momentum clearly shifted to Oakland. Oakland went on to gain a 8-4 lead before White Co. fought back and scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th to pull within 1.

All I can say is the proof is in the photograph. Congrats to White Co. for a well executed game. The umpire is there to officiate and not determine the outcome of the game.

Last time I checked, the home team does pay the umps. I don't believe anything was said about you paying the umps............I said the homeplate ump blew the call by a mile....... and that is the facts.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
