QUOTE(Speedy Claxton @ Feb 16 2007 - 08:11 AM) 826374217 Baker had 43 earlier in the year. With this he only had one three. He had 13 offensive rebounds. Thats pretty impressive to a player that you say is not good enough to play college ball.

Trust me, everyone else in the district has the utmost respect for Baker. I can gaurantee you Coach Pope and Coach Edwards put in some overtime working on a game plan for him tonight. I just hope we can at least contain him and force someone else to beat us!

Glad to see someone else that thinks he is good. There for a while it was like fresh didn't know which one he was. Just cause he's your brother doesn't mean he can't be beat out. I just don't see the same aggression in him this year. Last year he was an under sized post that still dominanted, but now just a guard that seems like he don't even want to rebound. But whatever. We've heard everyone's view. Can't wait to see the outcome.

I,ve read it all about theMVP business. Shankle will win it again this year. His team had the best record by two games and he eally carried them. Hall and Baker obviously are 2 and 3 (not in that order-who knows). both of them are juniors and thats impressive. Hall and Baker have a lot more potential in college than Shankle-no disrespect intended but that's my opinion. I love watching Baker play. VB plays him at point but he should be a wing man. There's more opportunity to feed the good post players from the wing and the kid can stroke it. The idea of backing a smaller gaurd down the lane will only work part of the time-its not too hard to stop if you are prepared for it (like at tourney time). Against VB there is always a player on the floor that you can leave to double Baker. Also, run a little 1-2-2 zone and the point has to give it up. VB should find someone else to run point even if they never score. Hall has a nice stand still shot from the perimeter and his post game has improved a bunch. Next year he'll need to add the ability to put it on the floor a little and make some jumpers and good decisions passing Next year MVP will be a close one. Both Cascade and VB have strong junior classes.

QUOTE(cascade11 @ Feb 13 2007 - 08:20 AM) 826369893The guy from Cascade who want get any mention for MVP but is definitely the backbone to our team is not Brandon Hall. Our team would be nowhere near the team we are without Stephan Reed. Any unbiased Cascade fan will tell you that is the one player we CANNOT do without this year. It will be tough going early next year without him but I think Ricky Hord will be fine after he has gained some experience. I wish we had used him more this year to get him prepared.

Having said all that, Brandon Hall is extremely important to us also and is the best D1 prospect we have on the Basketball team. I'm afraid his lack of height will hurt him in recruiting. He is almost unstoppable when he gets the ball down low, but not many D1 colleges will look at a 6-4 to 6-5 post player. I think if he grows a couple more inches and continues to develop his outside shot, he will get some attention for a possible 4-spot in college.

He has good size and if he plays as you say a D1 could take him and move him to guard. Remember there are alot of D1 programs we don't know about.

QUOTE(SLEDGEHAMMER2 @ Feb 15 2007 - 01:29 PM) 826373164That leaves the 2nd question unaswered. Since you questioned that other MVP candidates college offers while they are still juniors, Did Corey Shankle have offers as a junior?

Can they entertain offers as juniors? We have seen alot of recruiting at Forrest the last few years in alot of sports and I don't remember anyone getting an offer as a junior.

I'm not sure when is the earliest an athletic can sign, but I'm pretty sure you can offer before the senior season. I know there are some kids such as Causey Clausen's youngest brother (Jimmy) that had colleges contacting him as early as 8th grade. I read somewhere that he went to an Oklahoma football camp his eighth grade year and Stoops told him then they had a uniform waiting on him.......Whether it was legal or not, I'm sure a lot of that goes on.

Even though it hurts me to say it bc of his brother, Shankle will win it. I guarantee more coaches prepare for him more than any other player in the district and he still has great numbers. You can verbally committ as early as you want but can not sign until a certain date your senior year.

    • Hmmmmm……doe dee doe doe….i drove the lawnmower down to practice today…….hmmmm…… we got some new faces………. One can run faster than my lawnmower in fifth gear…… a few will be disappointed come November that they jumped ship and went down to that sewage facility……. You can bet the lawnmower on that.
    • I don't know what's going on in the town of McMinnville, but I've read this and it's disturbing.  I'm a "player" person, and I want what's best for the player. If a player gets cut off the team because she said the "F word" then good grief. I mean, come on guys. I wish there was a way for the player to transfer to a different program and just play ball. There are a lot of athletes that are stuck because they're in crappy situations regarding their team/coach. This is player just happens to be one them.
    • Won't happen. College coaches will back the coach every time and it cost this young lady her senior season. Looks like the player may be right on this one. School let her  go after one season. This stuff happens more than you think.
    • “No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team.” For language? I’m not seeing that as a dealbreaker.
    • Why did the coach get rehired after she was let go as an assistant by the former Warren County coach and the current AD?? Is that accurate?? I am very familiar with situations like this. Suprised lawsuits haven't happend before. If the coach unfairly let the player go, I think she has a shot because it cost her a scholarship. No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team. Not going to happen. There are bad hires like this a bunch and kids are treated unfairly by coaches that can't coach a lick and have super long ropes somehow. Amazing how some of these coaches get hired and keep their job.
