Not unless they fall apart in the wrong game. Anyone can be beat but they shouldn't lose to those teams in their district or region if they just play half way decent.

This is one of the weakest districts in the state this yr. The region is even weaker. Rockwood has not scored less than 10 runs in any region or district game they have played this season. The only problem I see is that the tigers play these weak district teams and it hurts them when they play the good teams. Their infield has made more errors already this yr than an entire team should make for an entire season. But when they make those errors in the games where there score 14 or 15 runs no one worries about it. However, in each game they have lost (except Kingston and Columbia Academy) their defense has made errors that cost them the game! They made 9 errors against Anderson County accounting for 7 unearned runs and lost the game 8-2. They had Webb down by 4 and started booting and misplaying balls and lost. Bottom line is, when their offense is shut down to single digits, the bad fielding becomes a factor. Rockwood, according to the results I am looking at, has only won one game in which they have scored less than 10 runs. They beat Chattanooga Arts and Sciences 6-1. In all other wins they scored 10 or more. In every loss they scored less than 10. Breazeale's only loss was due to errors, and 2 of Duncan's 4 losses were due to errors! So unless their hitting completely disappears in one the remaining district games it should be a cakewalk. I worry that when the district and regions are over, that the defense could become an issue in a sectional game or especially the state.

The only thing that field keep Rockwood from moving on past district region and so on (God willing) will be their fielding. both outfield and infield need to improve greatly.. they are also going to have to start hitting more line drives and not rely on hitting homeruns.. if the tigers can do that, they will be well off..

    • Best-of-three sectional series vs East Robertson at home starting Wednesday.  They put us out last year at this point.  Go Pirates!!
    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.
    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
