The Cookeville Keeper was coming two and three steps off the line before the ball was struck during the shootout. I was sitting right on the line and had a good view of what was happening. Everyone was screaming about it and it was not even a close call to make. What a shame for kids who have worked all season long and played their hearts out to get refs who are not capable of making such an easy call or are too unethical to make the right call. When the teams get to this stage in the season they deserve to have refs who know what they are doing and are professionals about what they are doing. There needs to be some means of measuring the capability and the values of the refs to appoint the best for tournament situations instead of the good old boy system that is used by the assignors.

QUOTE(thenextjatoree @ May 15 2007 - 10:31 PM) 826459948[/snapback]Just wondering, who made the game winning pk for Cookeville? any details on this game or even Blackman game??

i don't know and heard the blackman/tullahoma score from a shelbyville parent

i think shelbyville scored 1st then cookville scored before the half but i was told that the cookville goalie kept them in the game

    • I have no idea who your team is, but Memphis and other Shelby Co. schools have hardly made a dent, if you’re talking Game 15 appearances. Outside of a couple by Whitehaven, I can’t recall the last team in a final.
    • Robbed you guy at a chance of 3 state championships. You never kne, sond best team in the west my have beat you also, but you sure deserved the chance to play um.
    • Eagleville also loses Brown the catcher, Lamb CF, Mclemore RF (Heck of an athlete) and Drew the 1st baseman. They will be young.
    • Good thing we aren’t in Florida then huh? It would benefit a ton of the smaller schools  that don’t have the pools of kids to choose from! They should start by policing Shelby County like they do the rest of the state! Something has to change though and TSSAA knows that!
    • Correct, you can whimsically be fired in coaching. A coach that has tenure can stay on as a teacher if released from coaching. If you don’t have tenure as a teacher, you can fired without cause. Your last year as a teacher before tenure is earned you can be fired, but must be given cause. A tenured teacher can be fired, but it is a long hard process requiring the 3 D’s…. documentation, documentation and documentation. I have released 3 tenured teachers, 2 with PHD’s. However, teacher contracts had and still have clauses that state you can be fired for a variety reasons re: being arrested, public drunkenness, inappropriate relationships ect.
