mjuhb
to ensure far and equal competitions i have will created a proposal that may or may out solve some problems in high school soccer 1. has you can see below this eliminates all weaker teams in the regions and also eliminates some travel 2. it promotes tougher competition between teams with the same skill levels how compete division would work 1. 8 district tournaments will played with 1st and 2nd teams going to regions 2. region tournament becomes single elimination 1st example thursday region semi-final AAA compete science hill vs farragut bearden vs D-B cookville vs cleveland soddy-daisy vs shelbyville blackman vs gallatin lavergne vs hendersonville brentwood vs collierville overton vs houston winners advance to region final on saturday bearden vs farragut cookville vs shelbyville blackman vs hedersonville brentwood vs houston winners advance to state semi-finals on wednesday bearden vs cookville blackman vs brentwood state finals on thursday bearden vs brentwood 2nd example in the current system a team that gets to the state finals plays 8 games 3rd example bearden would play 7 games 3 district games, 2 region games and 2 at state brentwood would 6 games 2 district games, 2 region and 2 state 4th example is the region final now would mean something now how does the non-compete league work 1st example teams wouldn't compete for the state title 2nd example what they would be competing for is promotion to the compete league 3rd example the district winner will get promoted to the compete league 4th example the last place team in each compete league district would demoted to the non-compete league AAA Compete 1 D-B Science Hill Sullivan South Tennessee Greenville Morristown West 2 Karns Powell Oak Ridge West Bearden Farragut South-Doyle Maryville 3 Lenior City Sevier Co Central Cleveland McMinn Co OOltewah Soddy-Daisy Red Bank 4 Tullahoma Shelbyville Warren Co Coffee Co Franklin Co Cookville Columbia 5 Riverdale Blackman Siegel Smyrna Lavergne Wilson Central Mt Juliet 6 Hendersonville Gallatin Beech Rossview Clarksville Dickson Co Glenliff 7 Brentwood Ravenwood Franklin Independence Overton Centennial 8 Collierville Cordova Houston White Station Germantown Kingsburry Central AAA Non Compete 1 Boone Crockett Central Cocke Co Jefferson Co Morristown East 2 Clinton Central Halls Heritage Blount Co Bradley Co 3 Cumberland Co Walker Valley Rhea Co White Co Lebanon Oakland Lincoln Co 4 Hillsboro Hillwood Antioch Hunters Lane Maplewood Stratford McGavock 5 Henry Co Lawrence Co Kenwood Northwest Northeast Springfield 6 Brighton JCM Arlington Bartlett Bolton Millington 7 Craigmont Cordova Overton Ridgeway Wooddale Melrose AA/A Compete 1 Chuckey Doak Elizabethton USJC Gatlinburg Pigeon Forge Seymour 2 Aloca CAK Catholic Carter Kingston Stone 3 CSAS CCS Notre Dame Boyd-Buchanan East Ridge Hixson 4 Livington Dekalb Co Portland Station Camp White House W-H Heritage 5 CPA FRA Hume-Fogg Lipscomb DCA Cheatham Co 6 Harpeth MTCS Montgemry Central Columbia Academy Spring Hill Giles Co 7 JCS Northside USJ Liberty Westview Madison 8 Haywood McNairy Co Covington Sheffield Dyersburg AA/A Non Compete 1 South Greene Cumberland Gap Rutledge Union Co Cosby Frank White Academy 2 Austin-East Fulton Gibbs Harriman Anderson Co Loudon Oliver Springs Onieda Scott 3 Grace Mcinn Central Sequoyah Siverdale Sweetwater Tyner Bledsoe Co 4 York Jackson Co Smith Co FCS Greebrier Macon CO MJCS Hyde 5 Clarksville A Creek Wood East Robertson Fairview Sycamore MLK Goodpasture Ezell-Harding 6 Cascade Boyd Forrest Marshall Co Page Wayne Co Zion 7 Adamsville Riverside Lexington McKensie Scotts Hill TCA Dyer Co Gibson Co 8 Peabody Milan Chester Co Crockett Co Southside Ripley

Nashville Panther
What??? This goes against so much of what makes High School Athletics great. every team when it begins the season has a chance to make a run for the championship. We have non-conference games that allow teams to play 'tougher' or 'easier' opponents. The idea is so absurd I can't believe that I am responding. KeeperFan15
Compete / Non Compete just a little too out there for me. Creating a rec league vs select for High School. I like the idea of single elimination, but only if seeding is done by a blind draw. Not the current prescription format that is used. The idea is to have the two best teams (at the time) playing for the state title.
mjuhb
its just idea plus there's a better chance of paris hilltin getting out of jail but when take a 90 minute bus ride to school that you know you can kill them like 10-0 you think of these things

BigG
I think we should do a modified version of the Georgia play offs, which still allow for everyone to compete for state. Top 4 teams from each region go to the tournament (I am not sure how big the regions would be) and you play the first round of games at the higher seeds school in the near region (no Memphis to Johnson City stuff). You would skip the district tournament (going on regular season district standings) saving you a week, and allow for 3 more games in your schedule, or the option of resting before the tournament (since we lose 1 week for spring break and 1 week for school "trips"). You wouldn't play anyone from your district until the state finals, so that would take away the "round 4" that can and has happened between 2 teams. The thing I wouldn't do is play the semi finals and finals at the higher seeds field. I still think going to a complex sets a great tone for the tournament. I know.. I haven't really figured it out, or thought it through (I was up till a record 5 a.m. last night with "Hoya Syndrome" so not feeling quite chipper, but want to go to church with the family this morning since I see them all of 2 hours a day in soccer season) so don't ream it out too much. I think it has some merit.
ihavenofriendzz
QUOTE(VolunteerGeneral @ May 20 2007 - 01:34 AM) 826463228[/snapback]This is silly. ALL the teams compete. Not all teams compete in College Football. I see no difference. This would almost be like the BCS of high school soccer. Although not perfect, when you think about it, usually the best team wins the championship.
YouWishYouWereARebel
2 Karns Powell Oak Ridge West Bearden Farragut South-Doyle Maryville That would pretty much be the toughest district you could think of

dead bear
I've seen too many "non competitive" HS teams beat "competitive" HS teams and even more really fight it out. Didn't Walker Valley (a non-compete team in this list) make it out of their district last year? How many others? But should the classifications be revisited? Perhaps. Maybe a AAAA to spread fairness a little more. We could even go crazy and do like the European Premiere league does: bottom finishers in the league rotate out and the top finishers in the lower league rotate in. Is this too complicated for HS sports? Probably. Rivalries mean a lot across sports. The football team that gets stomped by School A loves to watch their soccer team take School A apart. If you want to compete, build young players and youth programs. Build up competitive programs. Or move to a "competitive" area.
