Ruse?

Any word on how Zak Tait is recovering from his injury?

There is a "draft" every year that a bunch of guys do on the rivals main recruiting board where they select kids from the Jr class, and assign points on all kinds of criteria. These guys are the hard core 40,000 post recruiting nuts. I don't do it, but it is incredible info. Even a little weird. A Bama guy and a ND guy were going back and forth about him. He apparantly went to a bama camp or maybe somewhere else this past summer, and if I recall he didn't do any 1 on 1 stuff, but went through some other drills, and looked real good. They are all particular about ht/wt stuff, and said he was measured at 6-4, 315 at that camp. That was all they had on him, other than he was "drafted" in the 3rd or 4th round. This thing goes on for like a 3 days, and has maybe 25 rounds. They like the Stone kid from Maplewood, Bohanna from Memphis, the DE from Ooltewah, and the RB from Ensworth. Those were the only ones for 2010 in TN that I could remember. ZonePirate from South Pitt might know more. He's a big bama guy, and I remember him being fired up after Bama offered before he got hurt a year or so ago.

Ruse?,

Thanks for the update. We're certainly glad to hear Zak is recovering fully to resume playing HS football and likely will play in college as well. He not only sounds like a gifted athlete, but an outstanding student and young man as well.

When this happened I remember showing the thread to my son who at the time was a healthy 15 year old sophomore backup LT to Cameron Hunt at David Lipscomb. (He was listed as the starting LT this spring and is 6'3" and 260.)

Little did any of us know he'd face some very similar challenges this past spring. His injury happened while goofing around with friends. He fractured his fibula and tore several ligaments in his ankle (known as a Weber C Fracture) and had to undergo surgery this spring. He missed all camps and did make it back to the field in the late summer. He's healing nicely, but as Zak and others who've torn multiple ligaments at one time can tell you. It takes months and weeks to "get your step back".

There's a former player from Mcminn Central High School named Jordon Jackson. He is no longer a member of the team or the school, but this guy can play some football. He can throw the ball about 70 yards on the money. I would say he runs the 40 in around 4.4 or 4.5. Great athlete... He goes to school at Mcminn County now.... I'm just trying to get his name out there.. Oh yeah, he's about 6'2 or 6'3, around 225 or 235 pounds....

There was a nice piece on another site written about Jock Stinson, Fulton QB, class of 09. It's early, but with the whole recruiting cycle being pushed back further (South Carolina already has two 09 commits), Tennessee's talent pool growing wider and deeper, and Tennessee high school football not getting the respect it's due; it seemed like time to start a list.

To the best of my knowledge, last year there were only two players that earned All State recognition during their Sophomore seasons. Both are already receiving a lot of attention from the big name schools, and sites like rivals, scout, etc.

Eric Gordon who is a 5-11, 180 lb athlete out of Hillsboro is one. He really impressed this past weekend at Musical City Seven on Seven. Very quick, big time "playmaker", good hands, and the natural hip rotation that could make him a very attractive CB prospect.

Zak Tait who is a 6-4, 295 lb OL/DL out of Knoxville Catholic. Made the All State team @ DT, but according to rivals, etc. is also being looked @ by Nebraska, Bama, ND, UT, ect. @ OG.

2009 could be the year of the WR in TN. Here they are as well as others. Plase add them if you know em.

* Marlon Brown. 6-5, 200 lb. Harding Academy. 41 Receptions. 780 Yards. 8 TDs.

* Corey Jordan. 6-1, 180 lb. Hillsboro. Gets to work with and against Eric Gordan which can't hurt.

* Zach Rogers. 6-2, 170 lb. David Lipscomb. Smooth, athletic, & could be faster than brother Austin @ UT.

* Nick Thomas. 6-0, 180 lb. Raleigh Egypt. Leaper, great body control, and balance.

* Thad McHaney. 6-7, 210 lb. Brentwood Academy. Very impressive athlete. TE if he adds weight. Match-up problem, if not.

* Cameron Mason. TE. 6-4,220 lb. Brentwood High. Nice hands, blocks well beyond his years.

* Jamie Wilson. RB. 6-0, 195 lb. Knoxville Central. Fast, powerful. Cassen Jackson?

* Wesley Tate. RB. 6-1, 180 lb. PJ II. Name sound familiar?

* Will Gillchrist. QB. 6-2, 180 lb. Hardin County 1600 yards passing, and 17 TDs as a Soph.

* Jock Stinson. QB. 6-1, 180 lb. Knoxville Fulton. 1700 yards passing, and 16 TDs as Soph.

* Derrick Webb. LB. 6-1, 215 lb. Whitehaven. Instincts, speed, and "want to."

* Cole Ticher. DE. 6-4, 225 lb. Brentwood High. Good feet, strenght, and leverage.

* Austin Long. Briarcrest. 6-4, 275 lb. Nice frame, athletic.

Like I said, add em if you know em.

Jock Stinson isnt a prospect anymore...he doesnt even play football or go to school....got into trouble again and Zac Tait reclassified to a 2010 prospect

Hey ruse?

I want to get some attention to a sophomore tackle at Cheatham Co. named Tanner Owen. He is 6'6 and weight 275lbs. and goes both ways. He is already very good and has a shot to be the best to ever play in the entire county once all is said and done. He could earn Region MVP Honors for the top Offensive Linemen in Region 5-3A. Did I mention he is only a SOPHOMORE???????

He went to a lineman camp in Alabama this past summer and graded out higher than anyone in his entire class. He is very athletic for a guy his size. He is playing basketball for the Cubs this winter.

I would like to get some film out on him A.S.A.P.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
