How Bad Will Lake County Pummel Union City?

I disagree with one major point in that post. If it comes down to coaching, I firmly believe LC has the edge in that department.

I'm not going to make a prediction on this game because I don't know much about what UC has this year. But I do know that LC will put some points on the board. If they can play a little defense, I like their chances.

I am WONDERING about that really "Good" coach you folks from Lake County are talking about???????

Dang guys, can't even wait till I get here to start beatin' me up.

I'll take my beatins. I got em commin'.

It was a long night in falcon country.

Even though they got the win, I didn't see a UC team that I heard so much about.

According to our stats guy, we had 100+ more total yardage than UC.

Not that it helped or anything.

Both teams will need to step up or it will be a short season.

What do you do with 6 turnovers, four of which were within 20 yards of the endzone?

UCDIDITAGAIN: your right man, that's part of it.

Is UC really that big on the line or are we just small?

Union City is not very big so to speak and we saw Big Last week against Westview with one of their linemen being 6'*' , 280 lbs and the rest weren't much smaller.

Our line is better and some larger and more experienced players than we had last year.

Any turnovers don't help and once you shoot yourself in the foot like Lake County did sveral times tonight, things begin to snowball.

We both ( Lake County & Union City ) have their work cut out for them playing Bruceton and Mckenzie soon. I have been told that this Mckenzie team might be one of the best in recent years and have the compete package. I mean, when you hold and shut out their ( Bruceton's ) Back in Chad Jordan, that is simply saying we are here and beat us if you can.

Good luck and usually we might see you in the second round of the playoffs if it all works out.

From a Rebel fan just passing thru, if a team is pretty physical up front and fast on the corners and at LB, Bruceton is in trouble on offense. They can't do much with a good passing attack either. Not necessarily talking about bombs just picking them apart mostly with short stuff. Our RB probably had more yards tonight than Jordan and Matlock combined but, won't bet the farm on that------maybe a tractor or something.

You guys drank right up on the Bruceton Kool-Aide......I haven't....I had em picked 3rd from way back in the summer...Go check it out.....0-35 against McKenzie......Looks like maybe the UC-McK game might be for the championship.....Which I predicted also....

About tonite's game.....Thank goodness for the work on the delay of game penalties...None tonite that I can remember....UC has work to do on defense,no doubt....LC did outgain the Tornadoes by about 100 yards...But 6 or 7 turnovers will beat you every time.....UC didn't have as much yards because they had some short fields to work with because of turnovers....UC concentrated more on the run game tonite and had around 270 yards on the ground....LC started cramping up in the second half after going the first period without any....The QB for LC is a tough kid....He got beat up tonite....He got hit about every play and took a shot on a blocked extra point attempt.....The big 270 FB is a pretty good load......No mosquitoes that I saw although there were some pretty big dive bombing hard back bug mutants that would feel like someone was throwing ice at your head....Always nice to go to Tiptonville...Is it getting in your heads yet??....31-31-34 points the last 3 years against the Falcons........

We will see you both soon enough here at Union City and know we will have to be on more than our "A" game to compete. I know in the recent two or three years, the most that has impressed me with Mckenzie is the fundamentals that your team shows. Everything seem to click when it counts. Union City is still rather young and lots of good players coming up and much larger players as well.

Good luck and see you folks in a few weeks.

You are right about younger kids.....You get what you get from your seniors.....leadership,experience and whatnot....But did you notice some of the younger guys out there making plays???....Worley,Price,Nicks,Barnes,Gossett,Arnold,Fair....all 10th graders...Sanderson,Easley,Carr,Sherwood...all 11th graders.....And our freshman team is loaded with skill position players and went down to Trenton Peabody Thursday nite and won 20-6

Congrats to U.C.on the win....Based on what I saw both teams are terrible defensively..U.C. didn't have the speed that Fulton or Trenton had...but still had several long runs..#6 for U.C. looked good but L.C. for the most part was just sticking an arm out to tackle...On offense..Lake Co moved the ball all over the field..would get within 10 or 15 yards from the goal line and and either fumble or get intercepted..I thought we had about 8 turnovers..Bogan was running over people..we would get close to the goal line..and Lake Co would act like he wasn't even on the field..Based on what I saw in our two teams..McKenzie has to have a lot better defense than Lake Co and with the room that U.C. gives the receivers on offense..McKenzie will win big when they play each other...It looks like Lake Co will have to outscore Gleason.Greenfield etc..to nail down the 4th spot..But..since Bruceton doesn't seem to have a lot of speed..maybe we won't give up those long runs and hang around..So..maybe a chance for 3rd still...

WELL, WELL,WELL, Looks like the little old Purple & Gold slipped right in to Falcon Country and "TOOK" the (3rd)third win in a row in the last 3 years, ( 2 ) two of which have come on YOUR TURF................................

Hummmmmm, How WELL will Lake County "Pummel" Union City.......... N O T !!!!!!!!!!

Yea, I know Lake County Turned the ball over more than a normal middle school game, but you know what......"That's Part Of It".

The could of's, would of's, should of's didn't show up and it only county when 11 men step on the field to play.

Great Job Union City of Taking Complete CARE of the Falcon Friends in Lake County........

You're right..I don't know if I've ever seen to many turnovers by a high school team..Even when Lake Co was down 20-0 at the half..I thought we could come back and in the 3rd quarter we had several chances but would have a turnover..Don't see either of our teams going far or going anywhere in the playoffs..No defense...And in our case..may not even make the playoffs..But..Congrats to U.C. on the win....

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
