Seymour Freshman

How do you figure GP whined about the game last year? You need to read posts from last year. Second, you need to check your TSSAA rules. Where does it say a 10th grader cannot play against a 9th grader. Actually, does it say a 12th grader can't play in that game? Why a coach would want to I don't know but sure it has happened. GP does not have enough 9th graders to fill a complete freshman team so they fill in with 10th graders. (Last year GP didn't have enough offensive lineman to field an offense. Would you rather them put 75 lb. receivers at OL. You are so concerned about injuries. Thats when you get someone hurt.) They play a limited schedule of games. I assure you that those coaches are very well aware of that and agree to that. I would be more concerned about a 225 lb. 9th grader just falling on a 75 lb. 9th grader than I would the same size 10th grader tackling them. You're making a mountain out of a mole hill. Check the birth dates of the 2 boys that scored against Seymour's freshman last year and compare them to birth dates of your on "9th" graders last year. Some of your "9th" graders were as much as a year older or more. If you are so concerned about injuries ask your own coach why he would agree to let his "9th" graders play against 10th graders. Then next year be sure and point out that those kids as 10th graders don't need to play against 12th graders who could actually be 19 years old and still be eligible. Coach Householder and Coach Hammonds are both excellent coaches and very respected coaches. Why don't you let those coaches do what they do best and quit doubting their judgement. They know what they are doing and I'm sure the last thing they want is to see a kid get hurt.

My final thought: I only hope for your safety that you don't play golf.

Thank you for the info on why 10th graders were playing on the freshmen team. That's all I was looking for. I think everyone has had enough of the toehole comments.

I do not think having people read between the lines was the point of my post. I do not want people getting hurt. That was the point of my post. I don't make people read between the lines. I say things out right. For example, I don't think people are idiots, except maybe you, and I do wish luck to GP. If you think I am lying, then you must have issues. And as "TYPICAL FOR MY LOCALE", you don't even know where I am! Are you that blatantly cocky to ASSUME anything about me or where I am? Grow a brain and then post about topics. Until then, you might want to steer away from sports boards. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Admittedly, my brain is probably not a refined or developed as yours, however I do just click once so as not to submit redundant posts. Go Eagles!

It amazes me that I gave the same reason two days ago and that wasn't good enought. I guess in that end of Sevier Co. it takes two or three times to get the message through. And by the way, the same doesn't apply to everyone else. But it was nice of you to assume so and post the same message 4 times anyway.

seymour will beg to travel to play the far away schools like sullivan north, ect so they can @@@@ up wins and get beat in the 1st round of the playoffs like they do on a yearly basis.sure coach householder has won many a game but his playoff record is below .500.if seymour is so good then why did a certain coach at seymour beg the tssaa not to put him in the fulton region as planned where they would not even make the playoffs.true fact.btw seymorons if 3a were like it was supposed to be without letting anyone move up you would lose the cookie cutters you beat and gain elizabethton, greenville, sullivan north and others meaning you wouldn't even make the playoffs.maryville offered to play seymour for 2 years as did greenville but instead they wanted to continue to play state ranked cocke county every year lol

I know that I am just a "seymoron" and everything...but just how in the world do you know all of this?

Minus the seymoron quote, that post make good sense.

sorry to anyone who i offended but i can't reveal who i am but i am sorry.i don't expect seymour to go out and play brentwood academy or teams like that but step up to the plate.in all fairness i have no respect for gp either.coach hammonds like householder has won many many games but his playoff record is well below .500 so he needs to step it up too.if gp were beating seymour i bet enrollment would not bother him in continuing this big game still.i do like some of seymour but i get tired of all the fans yelling everytime they give up a score how the refs missed some penalty.i also have heard this week about rutledge refs ripping them off last year.a little history lesson i will give.rutledge played at seymour not long ago and was pulling off the upset of the year.seymour had 4th down and threw the ball out of the end zone to a lineman who didn't report as eligible.so that is 2 infractions on seymour rutledge takes over runs out the clock and wins.instead the refs call pass interference on rutledge(the seymour lineman slipped) on a illegal man downfield on a uncatchable ball that led seymour to a score and win.rutledge fans littered the field and the police had to escort the refs off the field.the rutledge announcer told me in over 30 years of doing rhs football he never witnessed a call that bad.i predict seymour going 10 and 0 and getting beat in round 1 of the playoffs again.

Not a Seymour fan by any means and certainly not taking up for them. But who's blaming the refs now? An annoucer is certainly a far cry from an official. This is not the nfl where lineman can report. What two infractions were there? Are you sure that at the time of this game was there actually such thing as an "uncatchable ball". I know that at one time there was no such thing in high school football and if the rule hasn't changed still isn't. Maybe there are some refs or coaches out there who have kept up to date on such that can tell us. Sounds like you are a Rutledge High fan. Now there is a FOOTBALL POWERHOUSE!

How did it end up on this? Thought this thread was about someone whining about GP using sophomores against Seymour's freshman. Not about Rutledge or if GP should play Seymour, Alcoa, UT, or the Colts.

Here's an alternate perspective for everyone. Maybe the problem with both GP and Seymour is not their lack of competition in the regular season, but rather the fact that the Knoxville/Blount Co. regions have been the class of the state this decade and most of the last. Take GP's opening round loss from last season for instance. GP lost by two touchdowns (and an onside kick with 4 minutes remaining in the 4th led to the 14 point swing) to a Sweetwater team on some questionable officiating. Sweetwater was the only school that could stay within 35 points of Alcoa in 2A. It would be interesting to see how both schools would compete if they were somewhere around regions 6 or 7.

It is also somewhat deceiving to compare both Hammonds and Householders playoff records to someone a bit younger such as Coach Brewer at Sevier Co. You must remember that both men coached their schools to numerous playoff births under the old format where every school was lumped into three classes and only two schools made the playoffs from each district. There was many a year in District 1-3A where Science Hill or Elizabethton stayed at home with 8-2 records or even the occasional 9-1 record. Both men were playing much more difficult competition in the first and second rounds.

    • Hmmmmm……doe dee doe doe….i drove the lawnmower down to practice today…….hmmmm…… we got some new faces………. One can run faster than my lawnmower in fifth gear…… a few will be disappointed come November that they jumped ship and went down to that sewage facility……. You can bet the lawnmower on that.
    • I don't know what's going on in the town of McMinnville, but I've read this and it's disturbing.  I'm a "player" person, and I want what's best for the player. If a player gets cut off the team because she said the "F word" then good grief. I mean, come on guys. I wish there was a way for the player to transfer to a different program and just play ball. There are a lot of athletes that are stuck because they're in crappy situations regarding their team/coach. This is player just happens to be one them.
    • Won't happen. College coaches will back the coach every time and it cost this young lady her senior season. Looks like the player may be right on this one. School let her  go after one season. This stuff happens more than you think.
    • “No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team.” For language? I’m not seeing that as a dealbreaker.
    • Why did the coach get rehired after she was let go as an assistant by the former Warren County coach and the current AD?? Is that accurate?? I am very familiar with situations like this. Suprised lawsuits haven't happend before. If the coach unfairly let the player go, I think she has a shot because it cost her a scholarship. No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team. Not going to happen. There are bad hires like this a bunch and kids are treated unfairly by coaches that can't coach a lick and have super long ropes somehow. Amazing how some of these coaches get hired and keep their job.
