cp7
So far I have seen these scores: Father Ryan 3:1 Ensworth Harpeth Hall 1:1 JPII (Harpeth Hall wins in PKs) Am I correct that these are elimination games? Is there a bracket online? Does anyone know about the West Region?
FR Ext
Yes, those were elimination games. Father Ryan plays BGA on Tuesday and Harpeth Hall plays the winner of Brentwood Academy - St. Cecilia in semi final games Then you have finals and a consolation game with 3 teams of the 4 teams advancing
kickgrass
Can someone explain what the schedule is for D II. I have been told something about the Chattanooga teams and the Mid-State teams being combined into some type of sectional and that only 4 teams will be advancing to Chattanooga. What's the scoop? EHSParent
Can someone explain what the schedule is for D II. I have been told something about the Chattanooga teams and the Mid-State teams being combined into some type of sectional and that only 4 teams will be advancing to Chattanooga. What's the scoop? Generally, here's how it will go: Harpeth hall, BA, BGA and Father rYan are playing for seedings int he nest round . . . and then they will be joined by TWO of the following- Baylor, Webb, GPS ( as I undertstand it). That will mean three games. #1 Middle plays #1 East, #2 plays #2, then #3 Middle plays #4 Middle in a knock-out game. The 5 remaining teams ( both #1s, and both #2s autmatically go to next round)go to the sub-state, where 3 West treams are added to make four games . . . winners going to STATE. THIS IS Div. II AA
kickgrass
Thanks for the effort EHS parent, but that is about as clear as mud. I think I may get it though. One question is, based upon what you presented, #1 Mid and #1 East play in a knock out game? It seems that #1 & #2 East would play #3 & #4 Mid for the right to advance, or is it just the loser of # 3 and #4 mid game that is eliminated, since 5 advance? Also, it seems that all of the teams are playing each other prior to the STATE FINALS in Chattanooga. This all seems a very odd way to do this. Who on earth put together such a complicated system and what was wrong with the other? Seems like it would have been a lot simpler to let the 3 regions east, mid, west play their respective tournaments, locally, crown a Region Champion. Each of the 3 region champions advance to Chattanooga. The 3 second place teams get together play a 3 team round robin and the winner of that also advances. There's your 4 teams and only 2 teams have to travel, prior to Chattanooga, and the round robin could be over a 3 day weekend. It would also provide those that say "what if the 2 best teams are from the same region" a way that those 2 could still meet in the final and everyone would not be playing each other potentially several times over the course of the tournament. Every scenario has it's flaw. What if the two best teams were in the same area? In the previous format, they would play each other for seeding and if they were the best two teams, they would meet once more in the final. bapride
The reason that this is happening this year is that D2 has been divided into A and AA. 4 teams from each are going to state instead of the 8 that have gone in the past. Here is what is going to happen from here on in AA: District Semis Tuesday 10/16 BA v HH BGA v Fr. Ryan District Championship Thursday 10/18 Middle/East Region Games Saturday 10/20 #1 Middle v #1 East for #1/#2 seeding at sub-state #2 Middle v #2 East for #3/#4 seeding at sub-state #3 Middle v #4 Middle for #8 seeding at sub-state Sub-State Saturday 10/25 #1 Middle/East v #8 above #1 West v #4 Middle/East #2 West v #3 Middle/East #3 West v #2 Middle/East The 4 winners go to state
