PHargis
Since there are injuries of interest in 7AAA, its asked to share information of injuries for the district play and how those players might be doing. Allison Wright did break her collarbone and had an operation on and the operation was a success and is recuping. While it will be some time before she will be back, she was sitting on the bench at the Commando Tournament and it was glad to see her there. Her support of the team was of great help. Injuries cause as much of a problem mentally to an athlete and the injury itself. Athletes sometimes see their team playing and feel guilty that they are not out there helping. Support by team mates and small things keeping the athlete in the flow so when they return to the team, they are not out of touch is pretty important. Siegel is fortunate that other players on the team have stepped up and has filled some of the gap. Siegels coaching staff has had to take care of situations such as this the last 3 years and have done a good job of starting to keepeveryone informed of what is going on. Stepping up has come from many directions from the current Seniors thru the Freshman on the. Siegel is fortunate that they have a talented group of freshman this year that are learning early role playing and its significance. It is a tough long District season and one which players have to learn quickly.

earlybird2706
Whats happening with the White County girls? Hard to get info on a timely basis with a two time a week paper.
PHargis
White really has had only one sub par game, IMO. That was against Cookeville and it was a zinger. Since that time, it looks as if they are playing very well. I AM SURE 85 will be posting and giving info about White County.
PHargis
PHargis, great photo of Claire's signing with Lipscomb. Please pass along our congratulations. This poster is sure Dad25 is proud and everyone is happy for her. Claire has played behind some very good players the past 4 years and is now getting her opportunity. Her improvement will be seen in the coming years. She came to Siegel in the class that also brought Morgan Faulkner and Allison Wright. The impact of these three girls on Siegel Basketball has been substantial. AW has an older sister who played and a younger sister who is now playing makes the Wrights a family affair. The only other thing noticeable is they have been on winning teams the four years, in fact, the past 7 years as they did come thru Middle School Together. Claire came to Siegel as a spindly 6'+ player and quickly grew to 6'2" and worked very hard in her physical development and makes her presense known. AW and MF seem to be participating year round in something and are known as being very street smart in their play with MF rounding up to 5'9 and AW to 5'8. Players develop to their current level becasue of the coaches they have played for and the opportunities each of these players have had with their coaches has made them what they are. Big Mex, very likely, understands the last sentence as much as anyone as it has taken great parents, along with an inner strength to excell, to attain the averages all of these players have had. I am sure that some in 7AAA are wondering how many years are these players going to be allowed to play. Yep, they are seniors. But they can assure you that there are others who will cross the bar they have set in all of these numbers.

It wasn't really a tourney. Just a round robin type deal. They will be in super 16 at Bearden this week. Don't have any stats. Sorry. PHargis
As an observation, attendence to 7AAA girls games this year has taken a growth that makes this poster think it could be up between 20-30% which means more fans who had been coming just to the Boys games now are coming a little earlier to see some great Girls contests or maybe the schools are spending a little more time with the halftime shows and more students are showing up both games. Unless this poster is mistaken, the talent from the singing of the National Anthem, to the presenting the colors before the game, to the halftime shows and even the presentation of the cheerleaders has shown some great orginality. Some singers and dancers may be coming out of these presentations and make a career out of it.
PHargis
It is definitely an oversight that Blackman's scores and box scores never do make it to the Tennessean but they do make it to the DNJ. many fans do look at scores and box scores as well as some College Coaches and recruiters. It might be of some interest if Blackman started adding this to the long list of things "to do".
daking2007
Siegel's girls dominated a team in Florida today. They beat them 70-37. All scorers were led by Morgan Faulkner with 35.
