"If I saw the same game, the only thing that shut down West was the interference non-call that could have been seen from Texas and the dropped ball on the last play of the game."

HAHA, After all...it would be a disappointment not to hear from one of the bitter West faithful. LoL

Nothing bitter in that statement unless you think my statement is incorrect. Congrats on the win. But being realistic, if West had came to play in the first half, I don't think the outcome would have been the same. But that is why West will probably be co-champs instead of champs. It's sad, but West is not as hungry as they once were.

I guess my question is why do you think the ref's would make that call ( if it was one) when they had not been making calls all night? I saw M-town O line holding and even tackling our D line. No calls made. I sit next to a retired offical who was calling refs by name a fussing becauce they were not making those calls. But as one Greenevile player said "at least they were consistent in not making calls both ways".

I don't know if Greeneville went into a prevent mode or M-West came alive. But good luck the rest of the season and post and maybe we will get to have this conversation agian.

Now before KEVO fusses at me for talking West on the East board. GO DEVIL'S BEAT EAST. /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />

ok If i recall correctly except for the loss to greeneville south is mowing teams over. I really hope tn high has there own curt phillips b/c if u can't make an attempt to slow him down then u lose. Oh and if u do play west they will beat u anyways but u won't get to west u will play us correct

That one dude is really high on Tennessee High, well whatever. Greeneville fans know the biggest game right now is Morristown East. If pigs fly and Tennessee High beats South I will be surprised. WHO CARES about Region 1, this post is about Greeneville and East. The Devils will be prepared. The coaches will have the whole day to get the team ready to play on Friday.

If greeneville was not beating the dog snot out of west they would not have layed down. 2nd half i think greeneville was in eat the clock mode.

The reason I think east has a real chance in this game is because of our D. They have played solid all year but against fulton. They gave up a few big plays and the O killed them with field position. With the lineup changes that have been made, I think they actually will have the better D of the season on the field. I am not saying the D will win it but could keep us in it and give our O a chance to do something.........much like other games this year.

The defense for East has been really good at times this year. By no means are the Devils over looking the Canes. It seems as if East always has great athletes year in and year out. Greeneville will need a solid game. The three headed monster for Greeneville keeps getting better, but it still depends on the Biggins up front. Hernandez, McNeese, Whitehead, Everhart, and Duncan.

Our front 4 on D Johnson,Thompson,Murdock,Hammer have played solid all year. This game will be won up front and the key to the passing game will be to send Helton,Knight,Taylor from the LB spots to disrupt greenway. This gameplan worked well against South last year. East does a better job against the spread than against the veer. They match up athelete for athelete well with that offense. If they can get pressure they will be ok. East has done a really good job against the run this year and I think it will continue. The deep ball has hurt us and we must not give GHS time to throw it.

Maybe so but we will have to take chances. We have been pretty solid defending the run between the tackles with just our front 4 this year. It has been the edges that have hurt us on the run.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
