Carter @ Rutledge

After watching the big blue of Rutledge demolish Union County 41-0 friday night Carter has to be a little concerned.

I believe Carter has won the region ever since they joined it. That could all come to an end next fiday night when the Hornets travel to Rutledge to see wins region 3-3A, Carter, Rutledge or maybe Seymour. who knows what lurks on the mind of the TSSAA.

If Rutledge wins they could be playing Anderson County. Rutledge will play at home. How long has it been since that happened? Lose and they will play one the knoxville schools, which they have never had much success against.

All I have to say is "GO BIG BLUE" !!

It's actually Region 1-3A not 3-3A and Rutledge's last home playoff game was in 2003 against Anderson Co.

As far as success...I reckon not really against teams like A-E, AC and Fulton, but they have beaten A-E before and played tough against Fulton a few times. The game against AC four years ago was pretty close until late in the game when AC broke through for a couple of scores late. As far as Catholic I don't think they've ever played them...

I am surprised that there is not a lot of talk about this game. This one could really shake up the Region. If Rutledge wins, all three teams will have a share of the region title.

If Rutledge wins, the seeds look like this:

1. Seymour

2. Rutledge

3. Carter

If Carter wins, the seeds look like this:

1. Carter

2. Seymour

3. Rutledge

I would say that this is a pretty big game.

Will this be the last home game for Rutledge as Rutledge. If so Rutledge would have alot to

play for because a win would give them another game at home. Should be a good game.

Rutledge will try to run the ball and eat up the clock and Carter will be balance. Defense will win this one.

Who will get the most stops.

Carter has to much speed for Rutledge. Carter by 2 TD.

I think that this should be a great game, and the atmosphere at Rutledge will be pretty wild I would think. This is probably the Pioneers' Senior Night, and it is the last one that will ever take place for Rutledge High School, they will be fired up and fighting mad. Rutledge's only loss in the region is to Seymour, and they have scored over 40 points in 4 of their wins this season. This team can both run and pass the ball and have pulled one big upset this year, beating previously undefeated Gatlinburg-Pittman. Carter has been a feast or famine team this season, when they are playing great they look like a team that could go 2 or 3 rounds in the playoffs. When they are off they look bad and scared, see AE, Bearden, and Gibbs. This game has been close for the past two seasons, but if you look at the schedule the Rutledge game has come after the Fulton game in those years...not an off week. I look for this to be a close game because Rutledge will be playing for pride and won't quit. I am feeling an upset brewing in the hills of Grainger, I will save the prediction until Thursday.

The only other big thing that would figure into this is if Seymour were to lose to Gibbs and Rutledge would win, making Rutledge the 1-seed.

The final score in 05 was 35-0, so I guess I was off on that one. Last year was the one I was thinking about, 13-6. Funny how with age years and scores start to blend /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" . I look for this one to have a little higher score due to Rutledge's strong offense and Carter's porous (at times) Defense.
