bledsoe to play-offs

Well I was just wondering if anyone had an idea who we would play in the first round. I have eaten enough humble pie this week that I am sick. However, give me a couple of days to get over the stomach ache and I will be as good as new. I hope that Mr Robertson gets some things figured out by the time the first round rolls around. First, get a defensive scheme that is solid. You don't have to be some new age genius to make sure that someone is responsible for all gaps. Blitzing the middle linebacker is not exactly working. Also, the technique of some of our players is really really bad. I watch them line down or line up and they don't have any idea how they should be. Teach them to deliver a blow instead of absorbing the blocks. I was a defensive end and back when I played you just made sure that nobody got around you but even then we worked on the steps we used to get there. Now, "And threw all of this the coaching staff does nothing with it. I can tell you that the stuff being said is totally unacceptable and the adminstration at Bledsoe County should step up and handle the situation," this post really bothers me. I was aware of the behavior of some of our fans but if this were true of our players I am very disappointed. The things I told everyone when you were hired was that you would make sure the players were fired up and that they behaved. Friday night neither of these were true and I heard about it repeatedly from my family while we were watching UT Saturday. I realize that there is no administrative support or help but just hold on it's coming. Well let's find out who we play, get things straightened out and see if we can't get a good win. We are still a very talented team that can play with anyone on any night.

I don't want to hear anyone talk about humble pie, because it has to be better than the crow I have had to swallow. But, I will say it again...we have TALENT. We had the talent to play with any team we have faced and the TALENT to beat most of them. AND, I will admit that until I read some of the posts and heard folks talking over the weekend, I did not know how much of a discipline problem we had. But that can be handled and like it was said, our coaches will soon have the support they need to address this problem and I believe that it will be addressed. I hope I am not disappointed, and I don't think I will be. As far as the problems with some fans and someone being "thrown out" of the game, it is the responsibility of the administration, (superintendent, principal, AD, etc) to handle that. It is simple you behave like that and you don't get to attend anymore ball games. Case closed and problem solved! I don't know who we will face in round 1, and if we play like we can and prepared like we should be, we will be fine. If not...well everyone knows what will happen.

Hold on everybody, and let's not all get down a whole new season starts today. I think (my opinion is worth nothing) the boys just had an off night. Unfortunately, that happens with teams. They had some banged up a little and were missing at least 1 starter and just had a let down after the big win at Marion. Again, as bad as we may hate it (and I hate to see them lose as much as anyone), I thought they just had an off night and will get things turned back around, healed up, and be ready to go next week. Remember Livingston Academy 2 years ago, they were either 5-5 or 6-4 (can't remember exactly) and won the state. Marion in '90 (their first state title, they had been runner-up twice) they went 7-3 and did not win the region because they lost to Sequatchie that went 10-0 and lost in the 2nd round. Anything can happen and like I said, a whole new season for us starts today. As far as the problems with some fans, I was sitting with my wife and son and could not see or hear anything until the officials walked over to the fence and escorted someone out. I don't know what happened, but because it was a school official some action should take place. Because I don't know what happened, I could not say what should occur, but I am going to assume that the proper people will find out what did go on and will address it in an appropriate manner. Let's not all get mad and down, and let's focus on supporting the team, and leave the other discussions about problems some may see, or think should be addressed, for another time and place instead of on a message board that is about high school football. Please no offense intended in any way, just my opinion.

I don't normally do this, but Eric you don't believe a word of what you wrote. I know you were at the game sitting with your family, but everyone saw the rediculous and embarrassing behavior of our fans and especially the bus driver and none of our school personel did anything. YOU know what should have happened and what needs to happen to turn this thing around. I know you support the team and I think that is good. I know you work with Little Blue some and that's good too. But, not doing all you can to help is not helping at all. AND YOU can help things alot if you just will. I have told many people that you do a great job as a Representative, and I think you do and support you 100%. I know this problem is not your job, but if people can help in any way to make things better, they should...and I mean ALL OF US! I know you care about the youth and future of Bledsoe County and many of us do, so it is past time to do something about it. And yes I know this is way off topic, so Sorry.

I looked at the teams and records again yesterday and still don't have a clue of who will be playing who. That makes for some excitement at least. I hope they do have a plan together and aren't still working out the details. Supposedly you'll find out Saturday, any later than that would make it hard to exchange films.

Thanks Indian for that information. It does make it interesting to have to wait and see but I am sure that as far as preparing a team it makes it kind of frustrating. However, I still believe that you don't win by worrying about what someone else is doing you win by eliminating your own mistakes and also by making sure that your team is as good as they can be. i have to reiterate the comments that were made by warrior4ever. If things happened the way I was told then there should have been some action by our administration. It is the job of the coach to make sure that he and his players behave in the right way but it is not his fault that a few fans got out of hand. We do have talent and I am going to go out on a limb and say that you will see a different Warrior football team in 2 weeks and whoever draws us is drawing a very dangerous team with enough talent to beat you.

Right now...I would say Bledsoe will likely go to DCA or Tyner in the 1st round.

I have not seen DCA only their scores so I don't know how they play, but as for Tyner we played really well against them in the first half...of course as anyone can see the second half we did not play nearly as well. We have the talent and ability to be competitive with these kinds of teams if and when everyone decides to show up and be ready to play. I wish we knew who we were going to play for sure, but I guess we will know soon enough.

DCA would be a nice change for us. Just getting a new look would really help things. I am concerned about the lack of interest that we have going into the play-offs. When I went to supper last night there were a few people talking about the football team but not in an excited manner. Instead it was more about how this team, though talented, had done nothing more than the previous staff and teams had done. There were some close games that brought excitement but not really a lot of good football. They were also talking about the upcoming basketball season and were talking about how they just saw more of the same type of attitude being displayed. The "well maybe we'll do ok but we just don't have the this or we don't have the that like some other teams." I am really tired of hearing how we don't measure up. When our coaches are bad mouthing the players and putting them down for not having the ability we should remind them that even though you can't win without some talent it is the coach's job to improve whatever talent is there and that isn't done by bad mouthing and not working. Ok off my soapbox. I just really hope that in the future we can develop an attitude of achievement instead of acceptance.

People not being excited about going into the playoffs reflects leadership. This comes from the top down. If the administration is not "fired-up" then the coaches and especially the community won't be. This is jus one of the many things that should be addressed. I have said very little negative about the football coach or coaches (except that one needed to get under control, and he has looked much better the last few weeks), but I have had several people come to me and tell how the coach had "bad-mouthed" the team and specific players after last Friday night. If the coach gets down on his players to the public...they are done. I am going to hope this is not true and I have not spoken with the coach about it and will not at this point in the season. Way off subject...but BCHSWAR what do you expect to hear about the basketball team (boys especially) when you have a head coach that in 10 years has NEVER had a winning record... NOT ONE TIME! I know it sounds like a broken record, but we do have TALENT in our school and on our teams we just have to have people in place to bring it out. I will go as far and just say it now, I think the football coach deserves another year under a new administration to see what he can do with proper support, but some other coaches (boys and girls basketball at least) need to go! They have had ample time and have produced NOTHING but consistent losing records. Sorry, I know this is way off subject, but it all goes hand in hand.

On another subject, we do have many of us doing everything we can to support the team. Raising money, working to promote the booster club, etc. So, there are some of us very excited...we just need help. Let's all work together and send a message a week from Friday that Bledsoe County athletics is about to turn the corner and be a force to reckon with in the future!

Go Warriors!

i don't want to say we need new coaches in those sports but they definately need to turn the heat up. the days of no pressure are gone. i have watched our athletic programs go up and down for years and been part of that process as well. now it seems that we have a good group of athletes in the school (high school and middle school) and we need to really improve both academically and athletically. we do need an administration that will drive the staff who in turn will motivate our children. I overheard some football parents discussing how the current coaches had told the players that they didn't have any heart and didn't have pride. I am not questioning how a coach gets his players fired up but do wonder why when a team is down you continue to badmouth them. I had hoped that Mr Robertson would be a hustler and a motivator but at least some people are questioning this. well hopefully we will be ready to play in 2 weeks and we can move one step closer to really having a successful program

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
