After watching Jason McCroskey come up a little short last year, I started putting together a list of Seniors that I thought for one reason or another hadn't got to the Top Step. The four people that I would like to nominate for the

"Get to the Top Step Award " this year are:

Mikey Fuller- Soddy Daisy

Mikey has been a great wrestler since the day he stepped out on the match. Might have reached the top last year and not been nominated for this award, had it not been for an excellent match by Tanner Johnson. He will really stand out this year, and it won't be just for his wrestling ability--- the man has a fro that the 1970 NBA basketball players would envy.

Andy Shuford - Baylor School for Boys and Girls

You have to pull for a kid who wrestled 189 and only weighed about 170 last year. A great kid with a ton of heart, that I hope takes him to the top this year

Ryan Knoz - Franklin High School

Maybe the best wrester in the state this year, behind Mr Mang of Bradley. Was funking when funking wasn't coollllll. He is fun to watch in scrambles and the only Tn boy that I have seen to whip the SNOT out of Mr Johnson( former Baylor School for Boys and Girls wrestler) Has been in the toughest weight classes each year and has come up a tad short, but, I bet not this year.

Patrick ( God I love to watch him on kick coverage) Flynn - Everyone's Favorite NOTRE DAME

I thought it might happen last year after giving Jake Young only his 2 loss of his career, but he ran into a tough call in the semis and wasn't able to fulfill his dreams. He will not be out muscled this year by anyone, but will have to have a great tournament in the tough 189lb class to get er done

There's my list. Please fill free to add your names of Senior only Wrestlers

I agree about Konz; he was incredible in middle school. There is little doubt to me that he was the best in the country at least, during his 8th grade year. The competition has caught up a little, but he is still amazing. When did he whoop Ben Johnson? I remember they wrestled each other in 2002, with Johnson winning a very controversial decision over him. Didn't see it for myself but I bet it was awesome.

Here are my other picks:

David Mang...well, duh

How old is Baylor's 189? The one who supposedly transfered from Oak Park?

Josh Jadoobirsingh...try saying his name three times really fast

Cody Sliger, I always like to see skilled heavyweights

Just a few more weeks guys

Will Cody Sliger and Zach Herman have the opportunity to wrestle this season?

No one may have have of Daniel White the 152 pounder from John Overton. He came close to making it to state in his first year of wrestling his 10th grade year. That year he placed 4th in the region at 145. Last year his junior, he compiled an 39-4. He tore his rib cartilage muscle during the Brentwood Tournament and couldn't wrestle the in the Region 6 tournament. People this year is going to be wondering who he is because they didn't get to see him wrestle at state last year. He is tough as nails. He is hard to bring down because he has that warrior mentality that stems from the football field. He is an excellent running back. Watch out for him he will dominate this year.

W-dog, thanks for replying to this thread,but...... this topic is about kids that have not won a State Championship, Kids that have worked the tails off and haven't gotten the Gold

If my memory serves me correctly, Mr Mang, and Cody Sliger won last year, and I think that Josh kid also did OK.

CROY may go all the way! He has the eye, and it is in his genes. I really think

that he may not loose a match???? PERIOD!

It will take a real wrestler to beat him now!

    • Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.
    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
