Whitwell and Silverdale

Does Whitwell step it up to make a show in the playoffs or get ready for Basketball ? I thnk maybe it could be a close game depending on which WHS OR SILVERDALE team shows up!

I said last week that Whitwell needed to have a good defensive game and they failed to do that in their loss to GBA. I think this week is similar. The Tigers can't keep playing uninspired on defense and hope to win ballgames. Last week I would have given the Tigers good odds to win the game this week against Silverdale, but after Silverdale stayed close to Lookout Valley, I'm not so sure. Whitwell has a big line, but they don't seem to be in a hurry to tackle anyone. One team will step up and make the playoffs, the other gets ready for roundball. Which team is more hungry to stay alive? I hope it's the Tigers, but we'll see Friday night.

I think this is a dangerous game for SD. If the come out and play complacent, then they will lose. They think that this playoff spot will just be handed to them, and that is not the case. Whitwell will come to play. Lowery is def the key to getting the offense going. Hopefully SD will be aggressive early and start well, because it would be easy to start flat after an emotional loss to LV last week. I'll go Silverdale by 10

I haven't kept up with Silverdale but what happened? Many expected them to be a darkhorse to take the region crown and while i realize that this year has been groundbreaking by Silverdale standards it hasn't nearly been the expected. Many expected them to challenge South Pitt for the region title and some region 3 fans even said that if Silverdale got second then region 3 might go 2-2 against region 4....

 

Did the big guys who sat out last year just not pan out? what happened...

I don't think most people expected them to challenge for top spot just yet but definitely for 2nd and 3rd which they did losing to Grace early in the season 48-35 and Lookout Valley last week 20-14. They were pretty close to being 3rd in the region (maybe tied for 2nd) when they gave LV all that they wanted only losing in the last qtr. They played SP pretty tough for the first half, I was a little nervous in the 1st qtr. They had a solid core of returning players and the kids that sat out last year have definitely helped. I don't think they have enough horses to beat G'ville but I would not suggest overlooking them either.

Silverdale should win this one. If they play with the same determination they did last week, than pretty easily. If they flatline Whitwell may give them a run.
