heartbreaking end to a heartbreaking season.

Lady Mustangs should hold their heads up high, they did everything they could. They did remarkably well for a team that has only had a hand full of practices in the past 5-6 weeks. The girls really pulled this season together and made it great. I personally have never been more proud of my daughter than I am this season.

Collierville, bring home the title... the West is counting on you!

yeah and the practices that you guys have had are rumored to be legendary! Freeze tag and other fun games.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why would any team stop practicing the last 5 or 6 weeks of the season. Our school has practiced 5 days a week all season. Only game days don't have practice. Did they lose their field or something?

Their field is fine, in fact it was redone this year. The head coach started cancelling practices mid September, right before their first game against Collierville. They were playing really strong soccer and were looking good. There was a local tournament that had a lot of National teams invited, from Ohio and California. In a game against Ravenwood, he took 6 of the 7 core starters our for the majority of the game. They lost to Ravenwood. In Monday's version of the local paper there was an article where he claimed to be misquoted, but he pretty much blamed the girls for the loss and then he posted some negative remarks on the papers website in response to an alumni's post in reference to his coaching ability. He punished the team supposedly after that by cancelling all practices, and when he did have one it was supposedly on a preschool level, including games and other things that had nothing to do with soccer. The rumor is the senior players have been leading the team all season. Sounds like from that post those rumors bare some truth.

This is a public school and if the above is true (no reason to doubt the cable man) he should be run out of Germantown on a rail. How can the parents let that happen???

The parents were called to a meeting and told that it was his team and he would do whatever he wanted to. Not sure what parents can do to a teacher at a public school.

My wonder is what on Earth is Coach Wolff doing during all this?

Hope her circumference is alright. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Seriously...hope she heals well and fast.

VG, don't worry, the radius will be okay as long as the diameter isn't broken. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    • I grew up watching Greene Devil Football since I could walk and still close with a lot of the coaches so should know my history pretty well lol.  Everything worked out the way it should have but firmly believe McCurry would have won some State Title if he wouldn't been let go (Greeneville still runs the same D he brought here and he let Ballard run the O and stayed out of it when it came to calling plays.  Greeneville was put out in the Semi's McCurry's last year against Maryville and the next year Greeneville stayed in 4a and was State Runner up playing were they were placed for the first time by the TSSAA.). It was definitely a McCurry and Ballard show that turned everything around along with the Community buying in and revamping the weight room and field house. Since Ballard got promoted to HC every Coach after him has been within the Greeneville Coaching staff because your right, they know what it takes to win a state championship.  Ballard was a master mine on O and what i think Greeneville has lacked since he left and let some Championships or making it to the Championship slip away over the last few years
    • Sounds like you know your area history well. Going back and looking the records were better than I thought but mostly still beating Upper East TN schools. Ballard sounds like he came/was promoted at the right time.    I do think it’s no coincidence that them keeping the HCs as guys who were former guys on the staff. Too many times schools want a “state championship” leveled coach from the outside but they don’t know the landscape. Promoting from within will help with less turnover and keep the program consistent.
    • You’re a fool if you think I have more than one account
    • Looking back they had better records than I recalled against upper East TN.  But they still took off once ballard got there. And beating other good programs
