All of these games have shown just how, for lack of a better word: equal the top of 9AA is... It's possible that anyone (CPA, DL, FRA, MLK, PC) could win in any game at any time. Each team can exploit it's opponent's weaknesses and can come away with a win. Once District play gets rolling along more, it's going to be a lot of fun.

EAST LIT 53-HUME FOGG 48

East lit improves to (4-5) (1-1) against Hume fogg (4-2) in a thriller at East lit gym. This game between two teams who are trying to find there identity in district 9aa. Hume Fogg had look to have the advantage in the front court however the front court of Hume fogg is big and tall but fairly weak. The tallest guard on east lit team is six feet. In the second half Hume Fogg big men miss a total of 09 layups the wing men of Hume fogg are strong led by Sophmore foward Adrain Williamson with 25 points. After the game some of the Hume Fogg players refused to shake hands with the opposing team. Even though Hume fogg lost an emotional game they have to respect the teams win and move on. Coming up next for Hume fogg is Ezell Harding which they should win handily. Hume foog must rebound during there Christmas tournment after playing a pretty weak non-region schedule.

East lit on the other hand won this game strictly off tournovers they press, played deny man, and the 1-3-1 zone. The young team full of gaurds did a great job against Hume Fogg Big men, being very physcial down low. Hume fogg was down 48 to 46 with 1:35 remaining in the fourth until Troy Bosman came in with a clutch three to give East lit the win and evenutal there first district win.

Next Week Pearl-Cohn travels to East Lit on Decemeber 21 should be intresting to see how East Lit will guard a more physical Pearl-Cohn team, and with the return of Deunte Mason for Pearl-Cohn from the all star game it gives the Firebirds more weapons on the post. Should be a big boost for whoever whens this game going into there christmas tournments both teams will be at .500 and be 2-1 in the district

cpa is a great team. fra gave them all they wanted last night but cpa was able to put it away late with some easy baskets and freethrows. i tihnk if a team overlooks fra they may walk away with a loss

FRA's guards are very quick, and when they hustle and play defense and don't get into foul trouble, that defense can be stifling. CPA found that out during the second half on Friday. When playing CPA, obviously the opposition's big men have to be tough underneath the basket against Z. He is just so strong that you have to be able to withstand it to get any rebounds.

That's a whole bunch of "ifs," but I agree that your assessment of the given parameters is veritable. If those 3- Pierce, Pickerel, and Kennedy- can stay out of foul trouble, they can be tough and make up a little on FRA's post game after losing an All-District post.

But the big issue of other teams, like DL, is how are they going to stop Z Mason while still keeping eyes on Miller and Anderson who can drain threes if you don't. DL's team is athletic, but can they stop him?

PEARL-COHN 65 EAST LIT 36

The hype of this game drawn a big crowd it was a matchup between East lit quick guards and the Firebirds BIG physical power, also a special matchup between sophmore guard Troy boseman and senior guard jojo sandifer(childhood friends). The first quarter was the most exciting quarter Pearl-Cohn had a 12 to 9 lead. However the game got ugly quickly between the second and third quarter Pearl-Cohn had 36 to 12 run. The "in your face defense" PC was playing frustrated the Eagles. Jo-jo Sandfier was clearing getting into his counter parts head(Troy Boseman) talking to him saying "ah he dont want the ball","he cant shoot". Clearly getting in his head holding the eagles second leading scorer for 0 for 6 from the floor and 0 points. mean while Jo-Jo Sandifer lead game high with 20 points and the second leading scorer PC forward Will Carter with 12 points and the 3A Mr. Football came off the bench and added 7 points. as the Pearl-Cohn announcer was chanting out "dont play with it". As Pearl-Cohn improves to 3-3(2-1) they will be tested in their next game against Mcgavock on the First day of the x-mas Civtan tournment in a prime time matchup at Mcgavock.

STANDINGS GOING INTO JANUARY IN DISTRICT 9aa

January is the second important month of the high school basketball season. its the month were all district races start to take shape. In district 9aa the favorite is CPA to win the district, however CPA was a 17 point favorite to Fra and won by just by 10 points, then against David Liscomb a 11 point favorite and CPA won it by three in Overtime. But the big Storyline of December in 9aa was That M.L.KING beat their biggest rival Pearl-Cohn with only three players on the court with 6 minutes on the clock in the fourth quarter. M.l.king won 60-52.

9aa Standings

C.P.A. 10-3(2-0) tough place to win at this week as they visit Pearl-Cohn

F.R.A. 9-8(2-1) played cpa tough

David Libscomb 7-7(2-1) Got hot in the begining of last month but then got really cold with the weather

Pearl-Cohn 4-5(2-1) Coach Wharton looking for his team identity, better find it Quick as CPA visits the Firebird nest this week

Hume Fogg 7-3(1-1) Should see if the Knights are real contenders after playing a cupcake schedule

East Lit 7-6(1-2) closed their tournment on good note(2-1) after losing by 30 in the first round

M.L.King 3-7(1-2) Does not play hard until they play the firebirds beat them twice this year already

Ezell Harding 1-9(0-3) playing hard the past two district games

Hottest team-East Lit did pretty good during their tourment looking to carried that until next year.

Dark Horse-Hume Fogg has a chance to upset some teams this year having Adrian Williamson avgering just under 28 points this week

Toughest Scheudule- P.C. has a tough two weeks ahead of them they must go atleast 6-1 the next two weeks to stay alive in the district(including beating CPA at least once

Coach on the Hot Seat-Coach Vic Wharton must turn his team around if they dont beat anybody they must win aganist the Royals, because the lost the firebirds took against the royals did not sit well with P.C. boosters

High school game of the week:January 4th 10-3 CPA AT 4-5 PEARL-COHN
