Morristown West at Sullivan South

After last weeks game and the injuries suffered by West, there is no doubt that this will be an uphill battle for the Trojans. We will miss both our starting QB and WR, but we do have players for both positions. Perhaps not as experienced, but athletically as gifted. The positive (from the West point of view) for this game is that South's strength will be going against West's strength--the ability to run vs the ability to stop the run. West's pass defense is passable and will stop most teams or at least make passing difficult, but our strength has been to stop the run. Luckily, this game is not played on paper or there would be no reason for West to show. South boasts an offense that has scored 464 total points (42.2/game) and a defense that has allowed 147 total points (13.4/game). With common opponents Greeneville (South Lost), Daniel Boone (South Won), Johnson County (South Won), and Morristown East (South Won); South has scored 149 total points (37.3/game) and allowed 73 points (18.3/game). There is no doubt that this is the most explosive offense West has faced this year.West has scored 267 total points (24.3/game) and allowed 170 points (15.5/game). Against the common opponents, with the same wins and losses by the way, West has scored 96 points (24/game) and allowed 51 (12.3/game). I believe this is one of the best defenses South has faced this year.If West's offense can move the ball with the necessary changes that have been made and keeps South's offense off the field West will win this game. However, if the offense if ineffective; allows South to win the field position and time game, West will lose. The dynamics of this game are no different for West than any other game we have played this year. The defense can play with South provided South is not given a short field or the ball (anymore than necessary).Overall, I see a tough fought game. I am pulling and predicting a West win, but know that South is explosive and can very well win this game.According to the bracket SS will be home.

Good Assessment.

and then south gets beat by maryville. regardless its all the same ending.

Well, if South gets beat by M'ville, then that means South went 2 rounds farther than Mo-West, right?

So are you suggesting that we don't play either game. Tell you what------ya'll forfeit if you like, I think South wants to continue to play----

I don't get your post, makes no sense-----

It should be interesting to see how South can play the Mo West run. The two backs (20 and 2 I think) can really fly off the ball. East had a decent run, these guys have a good run.

South has you know who, but I think the South defense has just come up big on many occasions. Can the same be said this Friday? I think this will be the best running offense South has seen all year.

Would you try that again---somewhat confusing to me----you say "all of our guys will be back friday" but then you say "yes they??qb and wr is out for the rest of the year". Pls clarify!!!

the 5 players that were out the JC game will be playing friday.. the QB and WR is out for the rest of the year.

    • Yeah I am on board and plan on coming down from the Ridge for some home games, great Friday night atmosphere there.  I'm really hoping SC can get them back going and have some success for those fans and community.
    • Yep I was field level on the scoreboard end throwing ball with Benny when we had that brief lead. Everybody got very excited but it was short lived as Murvil regrouped and went into machine mode. But yeah,  that hit sounded like the crack of a black powder rifle being fire.  I believe Dozier took one like that as a Soph up at Greeneville after on olay block.
    • Ole Benny boy lol. I forgot about Harder. He was tough as crap. He graduated in ‘09. I went to the OR/Maryville game that year (great game, btw) and he collided with Jacob West (I think was his name) and you could hear it clearly at the top of the visitor bleachers. Man, it was a stick. He could lay some wood son. All those guys were tough, Elliott included.
    • They do have good community support for sure and did when I coached under Z for 4 years. (I was on that staff that turned them around a little from winning 1 game a year to actually being competitive).  Great Kids and Great Community over there.  They have done some good things with the facilities from when i coached too.
    • I personally will not mind that one bit.  It seems like a really strange fit to me from the git go.
