Purple & Gold Standard
How good are they compared to the teams in their district? I've seen where they have been picked 4th behind Dyer County,Dyersburg and Martin Westview.... They were 8-21 last season...They have some experience returning in Nick Gilliam(Jr),Silvanus Lee(Sr),Brady Boucher(Jr),Cory Gibson(Sr),Matt Harner(Sr).... Gilliam is their leading scorer...Lee was supposed to be out last night..He has an ankle injury and may not play until after the Gosnell game on Nov.20th.... Purple & Gold Standard
I found a score.... Obion County-79 Big Sandy-62 Nick Gilliam led OC with 22 Brandon Smith ahd 17 and Cory Gibson had 13..... James Cuthbertson & Hunter Foust had 20 apiece for Big Sandy while C.Cox added
bshsplayer16
the game was a lot closer than the score tells...We played hard and you will be seeing a lot of that from James and I. And it was Brandon I think that was lighting it up at the end.
Purple & Gold Standard
I forgot to mention Brandon as a returning player...He joined the team at Christmas last year...He is a junior....
bshsplayer16
He is a VERY good shooter. Big Sandy is starting 3 juniors and 2 sophomores so we're pretty young.
rebel_oc
The game should have been alot worse than what it was....Gilliam and Smith both picked up 2 fouls in the first quarter and gilliam picked up his 3rd in the 2nd and saw very little playing time in the first half....Smith came out hot scoring OC's first 8 or so points. Boucher and Harner also picked up 2 fouls and saw little time in the first half...the refs called very touchy fouls...Gilliam had only 4 points at half and only played around 2 or 3 mins in the third....And in the last 3 mins or so gilliam hit 4 threes in a row and went coast to coast twice to give oc a big lead and wrap things up....But it wasnt a good effort by oc by far....look for them to come out and get after gosnell on tuesday since they stole one from us last year.... bshsplayer16
The refs called both ways...We didnt exactly play a great game either.
uctfan
The refs called both ways...We didnt exactly play a great game either. I know your not the fella that created a post somewhere else down the line stating "Big Sandy goin To State" but if that guy would come foward and see that the Rebels of Obion County did what they did to you ( Big Sandy ) ......well.......Union city would probably win by at least 50 points. Good luck to the Rebels, maybe somewhere down the road, the Rebels will be close to being back like they were back in the Whitby days......probably not but maybe close. Good Luck Reb's...... GCPioneer
There's a preview of 13AA in the Jackson Sun today...OC is picked to finish 5th in the District but could surprise some folks!!!
rebfan65
The Rebel Boys had something this offseason they haven't had in a long time- stability. Not having to learn a new system with a new coach will make a world of difference this season. Though they won't be back to the "Whitby days" as ucdiditagain referred to I think you'll start to see better play and them being much more competitive and possibly pulling out some wins people don't expect. If Coach Kail is left alone and allowed to coach his way, Central boys basketball will be something worth watching once again. GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!! CamdenBalla09
Obian has a pretty good team. From first look I thought we were going to run them over all game. That sure didn't happen. I think they got us by 20 at camp this summer. I dropped like 22 though. lol NBut, single stats don't matter when your team can't pull out the "W"
