Most people think White County and Siegel are the 2 best teams in 7AAA this season. It just so happens that they open up District play this season against each other on Fri. the 7th. Who ya picking? It's AT Siegel. I'm picking White County by 8 points. /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />

You might want to pick White County by more, they will be without Cutter. With the way Siegel has struggled, it was going to be a hard game for them even with Cutter. But who knows, stranger things have happened

What happened to Cutter? I will have to pick White Co. by more without Cutter.

LA VERGNE ??” La Vergne's seniors made key plays when the game was on the line, as the Wolverines defeated the Siegel Stars 70-60 Friday night.

La Vergne's seniors made free throws down the stretch, and executed their offense to perfection to score on backdoor cuts, to pull away from the Stars and stay undefeated on the season.

Meanwhile, the Stars (5-3) missed critical free throws and took some ill-advised shots down the stretch.

"It was the same as last time," said Siegel coach Chris Harris, referring to his team's close loss to Overton. "La Vergne's basketball team is very talented, but we had a chance to win. We have got to get better."

The Stars came back from a seven-point halftime deficit to tie the game up at 49-all early in the fourth quarter. But the Wolverines responded with an 8-2 run to put the game out of reach with less than two minutes remaining.

During that stretch, the Wolverines scored twice on backdoor cuts when the Stars were overaggressive on defense and left La Vergne players wide open under the basket.

"That worked really well for us," said La Vergne coach Jeremy Moore. "We saw that (Siegel was vulnerable to that) on film and our players made perfect passes."

The Wolverines also converted free throws down the stretch. They connected on 13-of-16 free throws in the final quarter, while Siegel was 4-of-8 in the final period.

Marcus Jefferson connected on 6-of-6 from the line down the stretch, and led all scorers with 29 points. DeMario Watkins hit 3-of-4 in the final quarter, and scored 21 for La Vergne.

The game was close throughout the first half. There were six ties before La Vergne closed out the first half with seven straight points to take a 35-28 halftime lead.

Tyler Cutter and Kerry Hammonds each had 13 to lead Siegel.

There were three technicals called on players in the game for mouthing off to refs and one on Siegel's coaching staff. With one second remaining in the game, Cutter was ejected for giving too hard of a foul and will have to sit out Siegel's next game due to TSSAA's regulations.

Hate to see unsportsmanship conduct from any player.

Cutter crying surely not lol!!!!!Reminds me of a game in sparta last year.

Have you seen cutter play this year yet? If not then think before you post. Cutter has grown up and matured over the year. He knows that he can't go to indiana state and be a "cry baby" as you say. He doesn't complain nearly as much as he used and has become a more team oreinted player. However he did a flagrant called on him due to emotions running high. I'm not sticking up for his actions on that play because he should not have let himself lose that much self control. But come on, give the guy a break this year.

A Senior that has signed Division 1 gets no slack. You would think he has matured enough to lead the team not act like he is in elementary school. He did the same thing at the Liberty tourney. Come on if you want to give him a break then he needs to act like he deserves it. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
