let's see if the kids from howard sign divison I scholorships. i know liberty is not a powerhouse, but mcmasters had offers from bigger schools. jurik is signed by a top 10 program at tennessee. who are the three from howard being recruited by?

I dont care where they signed. They signed because of size. Howard beat East Ridge by fifty and would do the same to Grace. And their point average per player arent high because they share the ball so well. Thats why they are the best team in the city. But the three are better than anyone that has been mentioned. Tell me what makes these two guys better than the three from Howard

Jurick plays when he wants.

The two teams he really tries against are Grace and CSAS.

against CSAS he had 32 points 18 rebounds and 4 blocks.

He completely dominated the game.

It all depends on if he wants to play or not.

my top 3 are:

1.) Phillip Jurick

2.) Dontay Hampton

3.) Brandon Herman

If you are a true player and love the sport, you bring it to every game not just when you want too

I heard he has even showed up late after his team had already took the floor to warm up. boy don't

that say team ball for ya

Your three arent better than whats been mentioned by no means!!! I would put them in as the bottom 3 in anybody s top 10.

Not living in Chattanooga but here are my ten best players from the city based off of what i saw last year and what have heard this year.

In no specific order except for the las two

Dominque Taylor- Howard

Darius Ricks- Howard

Dontay Hampton- CSAS

Jeremy Sexton- Temple

Brandon herman -Grace

Dominque Harper- Howard

McDuffie- red Bank

Geoff Herman- Brainerd

Carter McMasters- Grace

Phillip Jurick- East Ridge

I put a gap between the first 8 and the last two because the last two could both be better than what they are I think the problem both of them have has nothing to do with skill or talent but more so heart and desire. And let me say this about Jurick just because he signed with UT does not make him great. There are a lot of kids who sign with high major college programs that dont pan out. just go to Unapproved Website and look at the top prospects from the last 6 years and notice how many signed with big programs and never panned out.

There are a lot of Howard haters in the house! Please explain to me why Howard has ran through this city like Katrina!!!! They would beat Grace by 50. CSAS by 30, Jurick and McMasters are giants but these guys are talented and have represented this city well. So Hampton is better than which of the three. Sexton is better than who, B. Herman better than who. Man these guys you are naming are playing for mediocre teams in bad divisions and dont even schedule tough nonconference teams. Get ya weight up if you wanna see Howard

It's not that there are Howard hater's in the house. It's just that you're so blinded by your devotion to Howard that you refuse to acknowledge that there are other players that are just as talented as your three. I really don't think that CSAS or Grace are mediocre teams, as you say. Both are ranked in the state and play the teams that they have to. In the case of CSAS (from what I have observed) always schedules tough non-conference opponents and has never dodged from playing anyone, regardless of classification.

Another side note - Howard is good no doubt about it but they are not 30 points better than CSAS. They had ONE game last year where they did that but every other contest for the last several years has been down to the wire.

If im blinded its by the but whippins they have put on teams for the last three years. EXPLAIN how they win so much without having a top player. Either player could average 20+ points easily but share the wealth. Grace goes down the wire with East Ridge and you see what we do to them. These guys can play and Chattanooga has a hatred for the team so I understand the jealousy that people have for winning programs like Howard and Brainerd. Because they whip up on the city. And if the games are close How many times in the past several years has CSAS BEAT HOWARD

Brainerd Historically has been good but up until about a year or two ago they had fallen off tremendously. nobody is hating on howardI put their 3 best players in my top ten but stop thinking they are just head and shoulders above everyone else. in the 80's and 90's Brainerd was head and shoulders above everyone else they dominated the city for about 20 years Howard has not dominated the city that long. Once again they are good but they are not the only good team in the city

I respect you for speaking the truth you said what many in the city feel. But Honestly I dont see anyone better than Ricks, Taylor and Harper. Not saying that no one else is good. Hampton, Cook& Moore, Toe Joe, Geoff and Brandon Herman are all good players but I think these three are better.

    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
