If I were the coach of Western I don't know if I would want someone who quit, especially this late in the season. It sounds like she got her scholarship and quit caring about her team.

your wrong. there had to be a very good reason for Owens to quit. She has never "quit caring" about her team. Her scholarship shouldn't even be questioned at this point. You must not know her to say that.

It was not a matter of not caring. It was something that she made up her mind about because she thought it was best. I'm sure it was not easy for her to quit. She's a great girl.

If the coach did step up, good for her. Anyone who has kept up with Columbia athletics knows that the coaches have been run over by the players and parents for years, with no support from the administration. In fact I would say it starts at the top. That is the reason for the sorry state of affairs with the boys basketball and football programs. This didn't happen over night. It has went on for years.

The same situation occurred with Armstrong as with Owens. Threats to the coach, not following team rules, bad attitude, etc. Coach Moore is an awesome coach who is very strong with discipline which is a very good thing especially at that school. Armstrong as well as Owens had an attitude problem and did not get along with teamates and/or the coach. Both have lots of talent so who knows where it will go from here. Talent without discipline is wasted talent. Look at Columbia's football team as mentioned in a previous post. I wish the best to Owens because she is a very talented player. Let's just hope she can get her act together when she gets to Western.

Didn't Armstrong go to like 3 schools in 4 years, get a scholarship to West Virginia and then transferred from there? Doesn't sound like a coaching problem to me. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

I don't know the circumstances surrounding the Owens girl, but sometimes there's a difference in playing 'with a scholarship' and playing 'for a scholarship'. The down side to signing early.

Good luck to the Lady Lions. They have enjoyed more success with Coach Moore over the past few years than at anytime that I can remember. She must be doing something right.
