I said This is the year... /bored.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bored:" border="0" alt="bored.gif" /> /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Dannggg! I have a feeling your mouth will be full of black feathers after Monday..But if the upset does happen i dont believe Lake Co. will be the team to represent 14a because they are who they are..They play to their competion level and i told LC fans from the first day that will come back to haunt them..If they beat Union City and "IF" they win the region..And thats a huuuggeee if..That will be their only shot to get to borro because if they go to Manassas i don't think they will make it out Memphis with a Win. So im glad the Falcons has their goal set high starting Monday..Ive told all the Falcon fans all year..You can't just get up for one game against one team..U got to get up for all teams..Union City has that sour taste in their mouth's because this is where their season ended last year..Humboldt played wayyyy above their head and came out with the win..And went to Borro and did what i thought they would do and thats LOSE...I can hear all you Humboldt fans now.."THE FALCONS IN THE HOUUSSEE WOOOOOO WOOOOOOO! Because Humboldt want beat Union City..NOT THIS YEAR!

Spellerone u will be eating some serious crow after that one if Lake Co. lose Monday night. You cant be serious saying Lake Co will win without a doubt!!.OK lets look at some things going against Lake Co before the game starts.

1. LAKE COUNTY HAS NO BENCH....2. THEY HAVE LACK OF DISCIPLINE!..3. THEY DONT HAVE MR> BASKETBALL MJ BROWN!..Lake Co. in my eyes does not have a true leader on the floor but they do have 2 great players in Geans and Avery. 4. Tony Wilkins will be playing in the game Monday night which LC has not seen yet. He will be a key player in the game. Now here is some things that MIGHT go Lake Co.way..1. YOU HAVE COACH WHITBY AS A COACH, THATS ALWAYS A PLUS..2..LAKE CO. HAS LOST BOTH GAMES COMBINED OF 4 points..Thats not bad at all. 3. I think LC's confidense is very high when they had UC on the ropes at the THUNDERDOME! But their again, there is that pesky lil word had! Dresden will be rockin for sure Monday night..It will be the best place on earth to watch a High School basketball game.

Cope I have had cold vienna sausage for supper so crow doesn't faze me IF it comes to that. I have never made a prediction on here. I just have a gut feeling and I am going with it. Since I have never made predictions I don't know what crow tastes like. Perhaps IF we lose you and Purple can tell me how crow is best prepared since you guys and some other UC faithful ate some, oh 'bout a year ago. Now to your talking points.....1. You are right we do not have deep bench but I do recall a team from tiny Friendship winning a state championship with six players on the team. They literally had NO bench......2. I will ask you the same question that I asked Purple a while back....who should ultimately be in control of discipline on any team.....and that's all I have to say about that.....3. No argruing that point, of course the NY Giants didn't have NFL MVP Tom Brady either on another undefeated team but not untested team....you are pretty smart so I think you know where I am going___________________fill in the blanks for me. Now I do appreciate the fact that you give LC up sides.....1. Coach Whitby is without a doubt a great coach, you don't win 800+ games and not be. That is an amazing accomplishment. His game plan against UC works better than any other team in the district, now see your answer to talking point #2 above and again that is all I have to say about that....2. The closeness of the two games has done nothing to make LC think that they can't beat UC, thus my prediction. In LC if (which is the 1000 pound gorilla in the room) we make two free throws near the end of the game and it would have been a win for the Falcons. So when it comes to my prediction I have plenty to hang my hat on. No, not a guarantee just a gut feeling surely you don't have a problem with that.......... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

CONFIDENT MUCH? I'm a neutral person in this and i don't really see what makes you think LC will with out a doubt win? and i would also hate to be you if UC wins!!!!

Just a gut feeling beavo, I am not naive(dumb) enough to have no doubts unlike some other CoachT users who shall remain nameless by me. They know who they are and with a little research you will know who they are.

kylemeek11, your facts are dead wrong. I know Jim Whitby well and even though in 4 years we did not agree on everything I will say this, he is a heck of a b-ball coach and competitor. He never walks away from anything. His brother was having bypass surgery and his wife was finishing her chemotherapy the day of the game. He put basketball 2nd to family. Besides, it was not a do or die game vs Halls. The fact is it was a consolation game and both were going on to region. The only thing the game really meant was who the Falcons would play monday in the semis of the region Humbolt or UC. I think the Falcons felt pretty comfortable that Coach Clay and the team could get it done against halls, a team they had beat twice already. Coach Whitby loves the game of basketball, as he said in the paper it was the first game he had missed in 36 years of coaching. He will have the Falcons ready come Monday. Remember a Falcon has already been a member of a franchise to stop one undefeated streak, Jerry Reese and the G-Men, can the LCHS squad pull the 2nd upset?? Time will tell.

Thanks for setting the facts straight. Like I said before, I was going on what I'd heard word-of-mouth, so I wanted to see if anyone knew for sure. I just heard that his fans showed their butts and he finally got fed up with these people that think they're the coach and decided to let them put their money where their mouths were. And as for Whitby's coaching reputation, I know he's a feared one...gets success from any program he's involved with. As for the game...I hope UC finally gets a blowout win over LC...the past couple games have been down to the wire.

I've been going back and forth with speller for some time now and this is as strong as a prediction from him as I have ever seen....I would be disappointed with him if he said LC would lose though...Speller is right on one point...The Falcons will eventually beat Union City in basketball..It will be next season though..I think the Falcons are battling some other factors as well with their coach going through some tough personal issues with his family(medical)..Coach wasn't at the Halls consolation game in the district tournament...I'm sure he will be there Monday nite..Lake County also has the thing where they haven't beaten Union City with a full squad..LC's only win against UC came in 05-06 when UC had four starters suspended...LC lost that year in this very game to the Tornadoes to end their run....The last few games with LC have been barn-burners with UC pulling out wins at the end..This time I just think the Tornadoes will win by about 7 but the game will be in the 7-12 point range much of the nite...The seven Union City seniors are on a mission this season and I have heard from some that they have even stated that their new season started on Feb.12th when they played Bradford in the first round of the district tournament and instead of 31-0 they are considering themselves now to be 4-0..Four down six to go to be where they want to be...Tony Wilkins being healthy will be a major issue in this game...Tony doesn't hesitate at all taking the ball to the hole...He goes strong and will Monday nite...Lake Co will just have someone else to have to defend that they haven't had to in the earlier games with UC...This is a point of the season Union City has been thinking about for a year now..No matter who the opponent was going to be..It just happens to be Lake County this year...Look for the Tornadoes to be very, very focused on Monday nite..They will show everyone the lessons they learned from the Humboldt game at West Carroll last season...It's unfair to ask any one of the Big Three to have to play and beat each other so often just to move on..UC is 5-0 against Humboldt and Lake County this season..But to be the best you have to beat the best and Monday nite is no different....This is the most intense nite of the year..Win and you guarantee yourself two more games..Lose and you start unpacking the baseballs and bats.....GO TORNADOES!!!

My prediction...Not a guarantee mind you is Union City-76....Lake County-69

Thanks for the kind words Purple. I respect your opinion though I might not always agree with it. Tony Wilkens being back could indeed be a problem for LC. Only time will tell on that . However I suspect that he can be defended unless he is the second Mr. Basketball on UC's team. So he likes taking it to the hole... Well there is a little feller named Russell Avery who just might have something say about that. If( again that pesky 1000 pound gorilla in the room) we can stay out of foul trouble some of those shots will be going in reverse. And since you have previously stated that LC's play has affected UC in at least one previous game I will hold you to that. I have documentation on that. It was about as difficult as building the Hoover Dam to get you to admit that. It definitely stinks that three of the best 1A teams in the state can't make it to the big show. So i'll tell you what, since it has been a while since LC has been and UC has been fairly recently it's only fair that we go this year. You are a fair man so I am sure you agree............. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

Plus after the fans jawed about coach Whitby not winning against UC, he basically walked out on the team and didn't coach last Saturday. I don't know if he coached last night. And I've also heard he or someone in his family is having some sort of medical treatment or surgery Monday night. Sounds like his fan base has made him mad and his family might need him Monday night. Anyone have better facts than my assumptions?

I think you should think things throuh before you post. Those are some careless comments about something that you are clearly uniformed about. Another poster has answered your question so I will leave it at that.

Just like in Brownsville on Monday night with the best girls in the state fromm 13AA playing in the Region 7AA tournament, Dresden will see three of the best 4 teams in the state playing final four state tournament basketball on a Regional level from the same district. How sad it is to see one of the three best teams in the state hanging it up at Dresden in the Regional semi's! Northwest Tennessee offers some great caliber basketball for fans to watch. Other teams in the state will be happy that Union City, Humboldt, and Lake County (no order intended) keep beating up on each other before they progress any farther.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!

When you have two very good teams facing off in a "loser go home" match and one team is undefeated the edge has to go to the underdog. UC is by far the best team in Class A but as witnessed last year they can be beat. I'm predicting the upset will happen with LC winning by 2 on a last second shot! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

You are about as bad as Legend, both in knowledge of anything resembling the English language and knowledge of the game...

LC is definitely capable of beating UC, as is Humboldt...UC is a great team, proven to be the best thus far...But to say that on a neutral court, UC can't be beat by the two teams that know UC the best is plain ignorant...Purple may not believe it will happen, but even he will tell you that UC can be beat by LC or Humboldt...

Think about this scenario...may not happen, may be way off...but it's reasonable to consider...

All I've heard all year is how UC is playing such motivated basketball because of the way they were bounced last year by the Vikings...Is there any chance that UC could look forward to that UC-HBT IV?? I mean, it's an epic story if you think about it...Humboldt and UC, meeting for the fourth time this season, UC trying to avenge last year's loss...Humboldt trying to prove they are as good as UC and host substate...It's awfully easy to get caught up in all that...If UC were to be looking forward to the Humboldt game (this is saying that Humboldt doesn't get upset by Halls) even in the slightest way, that might be all LC needs to get over the hump...LC will be playing with nothing to lose anyways...The pressure is definitely on UC...Could be the difference between a 2-point loss and a 2-point win???
