Are we tired of this?

I think everyone is just READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL. We can't change anything for two more years anyway. We would probably all like each other anyway. We have one thing in common, we love football, just loyal to our teams. Lets just come out fighting and may the best private school win, I had to be a little mean. Good luck to all the teams and boys who work their butts off for our entertainment on Friday nights. Private or public they are all just boys, and most of them a credit to the lazy class of kids we are bringing up these days. Volgen come watch us play, I'll pay your ticket, and even let you crash at my house. You'd love Roan Mountain, and go away a Lander fan. GO LANDERS!!!

This discussion will have to be put on hold until we have "exercised the demons" off the (football) fields of glory! It is football time in Tennessee and between high school, college, and the Tennessee Titans, there won't be much time to spend on this discussion! Pull out those coaching shorts, whistles, caps, and 50 gallon drums of Poweraid and let the games begin! For now... it is time to shut up and play ball!

It will return the day a private school beats a public...

Nothing will be said as long as the public wins...I mean thats what they want, they want Collinwood or South Pitt to win it all, and seek vindication for all those hard fought years of imprisonment (haha 3 titles in 10 years)

Honestly, I hope a public school wins it, and then we hear about how the privates knocked out all the other public schools in the early round...its a win win situation for some, and a lose lose situation for others.

I like Ezell's defense...they seem pretty tough.

I like Collinwood's offense...

I think every team in 1A plays and practices extremely hard...

Is the best team in 1A going to win state? Nope, not a chance.

Any given day one of these teams could win...South Pitt, USJ, CPA, Collinwood, Ezell, and a host of others...I'm not as big of a 1A guru as I would like to be, so I'm not going to make any guarantees, good luck to all the teams

In West TN...the 1a football is horrible, but that doesn't mean that all schools are like that...my team got crushed by USJ by about 25 points...I'm not going to sit here and bad mouth any school that beats my team like that...even if it was 4 years ago.

nonews...I am familiar with the metro schools in memphis, who have kids that are better athletes than anyone on my team, yet only have about 20 kids on the team...have roughly 350 kids more then my school, and have about 8 parents in the stands...That's worse then apathy...

Since West TN coaches are so apathetic, perhaps you could comment as to why you feel they are?

let's forget about the 8 parents....the real problem is in coaching, if you have a great coach, more kids will go out for the team, suddenly parents and administrators are excited...hey we might beat Team X in football and basketball this year! Look at teams like Whitehaven, Melrose, Trezevant, East...they take such pride in their football teams, even if some of the kids are from broken homes or poor...

Then we look at teams like White Station or Bolton who simply do not have the interest to get where they need to get.

    • Eagleville also loses Brown the catcher, Lamb CF, Mclemore RF (Heck of an athlete) and Drew the 1st baseman. They will be young.
    • Good thing we aren’t in Florida then huh? It would benefit a ton of the smaller schools  that don’t have the pools of kids to choose from! They should start by policing Shelby County like they do the rest of the state! Something has to change though and TSSAA knows that!
    • Correct, you can whimsically be fired in coaching. A coach that has tenure can stay on as a teacher if released from coaching. If you don’t have tenure as a teacher, you can fired without cause. Your last year as a teacher before tenure is earned you can be fired, but must be given cause. A tenured teacher can be fired, but it is a long hard process requiring the 3 D’s…. documentation, documentation and documentation. I have released 3 tenured teachers, 2 with PHD’s. However, teacher contracts had and still have clauses that state you can be fired for a variety reasons re: being arrested, public drunkenness, inappropriate relationships ect.
    • Hopefully you’re not signing off for good. There are a lot of Oak Ridge fans that appreciate your comments.
    • Florida tried urban/rural split two years ago. 4 urban classes, 4 rural classes. Didn’t work. Next year they will have 7 regular classes, 1 urban class for small schools only.
