JuanUribe
Congrats to Marion for knocking off the Irish. How about Sequatchie beating Hixson. Looks like the district tournament will be full of valley teams.
volsbbfan
Good game for the Warriors. Bell pitched a great game giving up only three hits. Their #3 hitter did not do anything at the plate which was key. Bell force him into a 1-6-3 double play and struck him out. Their #3 hitter did walk with a man on in the sixth. Their shortstop played a good game at short for the Irish. Marion did a good job of putting pressure on their starting pitcher and the Irish at the plate and while on base. Gongratulations Warriors, now lets go and win a few tournaments.
broadbat
Smart move by the Marion coach and pitcher walking Eberle in the bottom of the 6th when he was the tying run, even with a runner on first. I don't blame them, I would be afraid to pitch to him too, in that situation. Congrats to the Warriors. Smart baseball, good win.

nohope
Old Pirate says, Sounds as if the warriors may have been a little w...ary.. but it worked out for them. Sometimes it pays to play a little.... carefully. Old Pirate, you should know.......Justine Bell and "afraid to pitch to him" are two things that simply don't go together. Good pitchers beat good hitters most of the time. Thats baseball. There was a runner on first Eberle's second time up; he hit into an easy Double Play. Eberle walked his third time up, final count 4 and 1 (I think). He didn't get much to swing at, but he didn't draw an intentional walk either. Any pitcher that doesn't throw effectively and carefully to Eberle will regret it. Tuesday JB pitched well, the Marion defense backed him up (BTW great catch Ben Murphy), and the Warriors earned a well deserved regular season District title. Actually, the count was 3-0, when instead of throwing ball four and putting him on, he fired two inside pitches for strikes before missing high for ball four. As far as JB is concerned he has to be the most underrated player in our area. He does not have a loss in over two seasons on the mound and this year his ERA is 0.00. He is also hitting around .500 and has one of the best gloves around. And before somebody asks no I'm not any relation to him but would be proud if I was. broadbat
"Eberle's second time up; he hit into an easy Double Play" LOL....that was one of the hardest hit balls of the night, almost taking the pitcher's head off. Credit to the pitcher for making a good, quick reflex play. But I'm sure he would tell you, it wasn't "easy." And yep, that's my two cents. Walking Eberle, "intentional" or not, saved the game for MC. And that's smart baseball. Even in the majors, you don't let a superstar beat you. Yes, it was a hard hit one hopper back to the pitcher. JB made the play look easy. I wonder, why aren't the ND fans giving some credit to the players who actually got a hit in this game; some player actually had an RBI. Instead you want to concentrate on Sam Eberle going 0 for 2 with a walk.

Old Pirate knew he'd rattle someone cage. OP is not putting down playing a little chicken or carefully. Sometimes it's the best thing. Take Ali against Foreman, the rope-a-dope worked. He could never stand toe-to-toe with Big George and he knew. OP is not implying the warriors could not stand toe-to-toe with the irish. Again congrats to the warriors on their big win and regular season district title. OP is going to have to watch passing out too much praise to the purple nation, OP could get mugged when in SP.
