If anyone knew Mark Reeves, you knew he was a great guy, IMO. I learned a lot through him from character to wrestling under him a few years ago in high school, including the State Runner Up title he won in 04-05 wrestling season. I just wanted to congratulate the man on the new job. Good Luck Coach Reeves!!!

I THINK MARK IS A GREAT HIRE FOR TSSAA AND THE WRESTLING COMMUNITY. I AM GLAD THEY CHOSE A "WRESTLING MAN" FOR THE JOB INSTEAD OF SOMEONE THAT HAS NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE SPORT.

I don't know the man but perhaps those who do can make the case for going to a double elimination at the D-1 tournament for 2009.

 

A potential quick win for this guy, sure to make him very popular with coaches, athletes, parents and fans if he can pull it offl.

That is not going to happen if he wants to keep his new job. The first rule when working for the TSSAA is to not "rock the boat" and keep RC and the Board of Control happy.

I hope coach Reeves gets a chance to do those things that the wrestling community have been pushing for. I also remember him saying he wanted double elimination at state. We will see!!!!

If I recall correctly, he was one that pushed to split state duals into A-AA and AAA, which I think was great because it gave smaller schools a chance to win it all.

I do not know Mr. Reeves. I'm sure he is a fine man. But before everyone gets terribly excited about having a "wrestling man" in office, remember that Ronnie Carter himself was first a Wrestling Coach. So now we have 2 "wrestling men" in the big house? My point is, I would not expect a lot of things to change.

      I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!

      I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
