Probably the best thing for all, after all he was about run-off last year.

Jon's a good guy that has a good pedigree. He played at UT and Birmingham Southern, so he knows baseball. I just feel he lost his desire and passion somewhere along the way and during the season, it has to be a seven day a week job. During the summer and fall, time must be dedicated to getting the field ready. Jon has a young family, so I can understand his plight.

I would say the job will be Joe Wingate's if he wants it, but he has been there and done that. He knows all too well that Ooltewah parents are some of the most difficult to deal with. I would like to see someone with zero ties come in and start over....starting with getting the field ready. The coach at Central did a remarkable job of getting their field ready this year but he put in a zillion hours. He coached at North Jackson before taking the Central job. Maybe he's a darkhorse? I would like to see Garland move from Soddy and he has worked for Foster/Jarvis in the past at East Ridge. I'm hearing the coaches at Notre Dame and CSAS are interested. Both have pro experience. This should be interesting but it needs to be someone strong enough to deal with some of the most meddling parents on gods green earth. I like the idea of not allowing parents to watch practice like Wingate had a few years ago. Wingate wouldn't talk to parents either. Good for him......

You can read the whole article: timesfreepress.com says,he wants to spend more time with his family, but still coach freshmen football.

It's a real shame since so many parents had Coach Massey broken in! Now they will have to take time off to do some major sucking up in order to break the next one in! Everyone knows who "they" are!!! Not being ugly it's just a fact!

Facts are facts and you speak the truth................I dont think CSAS coach will go anywhere but the ND coach could slip in while the chance is there and he already has ties to some Ooltewah coaches from the past. I ll say that all the parents/brown nosers will be shaking in there boots now that there ol classmate/friend is gone. Massey is a great coach/person/mentor but IMO was easily influenced by some who had personal gain on there minds not the team. The good thing is he s still gonna be coaching football and teaching kids LIFE skills as well as sports.

Absolutely the truth! One quick question,is it this bad in all sports or just baseball? You never hear all this crap w/ girls sports.

You can't be serious.

You need to check out the softball boards.

You have parents calling the pitches to be thrown by their daughters and not listening to their coaches.

Way too many parents now days feel like if they devote time to the program, booster club, working on the field, fund raising, etc., that their kids are entitled to play due to the work THEY put in. It don't work like that in high school, or at least it shouldn't.

Too much DADDY BALL in both softball and baseball.

Let the coaches coach!

    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
    • Heard Seq has gotten a lot stronger this off season. Can’t wait to see how the boys do this year
