Junior Tyler Hood Lenoir City

The only reason Hood looks so good on paper is he's all Lenoir City has plan and simple. There isn't another player on LC's team that scores consistantly in the double digits, maybe one or two even get in the double digits. Hood's a great kid, works very hard, but LC people have built him up to something he's not (he's not even from Lenoir City, lives out of county, another story in it's self). College coaches will look at him because of his stats, but a college coach will see past what's on paper. Wish the kid the best, but he aint all that.

Dreamnit,

Can't agree with you on your assessment of Lenoir City. I believe the Panthers will be very competitive this year and next year. Hood (like a lot of high school big men) has some areas to improve, but he's well capable of dominating a lot of games right now. Dylan Powers could use a few inches, but he is a pure shooter and could play for any team in the district I believe. I believe they have several other kids with talent and I get the idea from watching them each year during season and in spring/summer ball that these kids love to play and really work hard at it.

Not sure about where Hood lives. I know the rumor floated around for a while last season that he might transfer to Maryville before next school year. Heard anything about that?

Govman I only state the facts. I never said the players don't love the game they are ALL really great young men. My problem is blowing a kid up to something he's just simply not. Like I said in my previous post Hood is a good player and on paper he's a great player but when you look at the whole picture he's not a "great" player. It's kids like this that find out real quick their freshman year of college they aren't all the hometown paper and parents built them up to be. I'll leave you with some facts.....

Like I said Hood's all Lenoir City has and against teams like Maryville, Farragut and Bearden you see where he really is as far as a "great" player.

I heard the Maryville rumor not long ago it was actually a post on coacht, but it was removed VERY quickly. Hood isn't going any where unless he's guaranteed a starting spot and we both know Maryville and Oak Ridge are both to deep in talent to do that..... That's what the good ole boys of Lenoir City are for guaranteeing playing time for an out of county kid when Lenoir City stopped accepting out of county students 5 yrs ago.

Dream n It,

I don't know who you are, but I am sure you know who I am. If you want to start making allegations on a public forum about things that you have no clue about you need to shut your mouth. All you have to do to answer questions about why Tyler Hood came to Lenoir City is look at Kingston's record the past two seasons. He inquired about Lenoir City, and Oak Ridge when trying to decide where to go to high school. The tuition issue at Oak Ridge prevented that, so the only other logical choice was Lenoir City. As for being promised a starting job that is as ignorant as you appear to be. He didn't even start the first half of the season, until he was ready. As for what Tyler gets, he deserves. He is a great kid and an extremely hard worker. If you want to discuss this further please call me...I work at Rhea County High School and if you will leave me a message I will call you back. As for making any further accusations on this board about any program that I have been associated with, I would prefer you have the facts first.

Wow dream n it, that is a bizarre post, stats and all. You seem to have something personal against Hood and/or LC. LC is better than you give them credit for. Last year in the region, you had the big three of OR, Bearden, and Maryville, then probably Farragut and Powell. After that LC was as good or better than anybody else, playing almost all underclassmen. I don't follow them closely but, on the surface, they appear to be headed in the right direction as a program.

As for Hood, the tone of your posts seem to wreak with jealousy, imo. I've not seen Hood play much but I do read the box scores and for a sophomore, he put up some big numbers against some very stiff AAA competition. I think a sure sign of a good player is when folks start posting backhanded compliments about them on coacht. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

Hood is a great kid and a very hard worker again I never said he wasn't. You know as well as everyone else strings were pulled to get Hood @ LC. As of the 2002-2003 school year LC no longer accepted out of county students due to over crowding. You said it yourself Kingston didn't have a good record but Hood lives in Kingston. As far as I know my tax dollars support Loudon county not Roane. I didn't say he was promised a starting position, I said playing time. He's a good ball player but when one player is scoring in the mid 20's and only one other player is in double digits against schools in your district like it or not that kids all you've got, that's what I've said all along. I have nothing personal against Hood, wish him all the best.

No jealsouy just made a statement that a kid can look better on paper than they actually are. Hood's a great kid and a very hard worker. I didn't mean to take anything away from him personally. Let's get back to talking basketball.

Dreamnit,

Back during Hood's freshmen year I asked about where he lived since I knew that he had attended Cherokee Middle and I was told he lived in the Lenoir City School Zone and that a Lenoir City bus ran by his house. Is this true or not, to the best of your knowledge?

To the best of my knowledge Hood lives in the same house he lived in during his middle school years, he hasn't moved. He's not zoned for the Lenoir City school system..... again it's to the best of my knowledge.

Guys,

I'm not trying to dispute your word--either one of you--but just to check myself, I went back to a thread we had in January of '07 concerning William Blount vs Lenoir City Freshmen basketball. I asked CoachinHoops--who if I'm correct was actually the boy's coach at Lenoir City at the time: "Doe Tyler Hood live in the Lenoir City school zone?"

His answer, "Yes he does. Buses run by his house. Our board wouldn't let him in otherwise. We are extremely overcrowded. " That is a direct quote. It's hard for me to believe CoachinHoops would have said that if it were not true.

His answer, "Yes he does. Buses run by his house. Our board wouldn't let him in otherwise. We are extremely overcrowded. " That is a direct quote. It's hard for me to believe CoachinHoops would have said that if it were not true.

This is the last time I will address Hood. You asked "to the best of your knowledge". Hood lives in Kingston, the same house he's lived in since his middle school days. Unless Loudon county has rezoned and to my knowledge they have not Hood does not live in the Lenoir City school zone. End of story he isn't zoned for Lenoir city schools, never has been. If you want to know for sure do some research, get an address and take a trip out to Kingston, then contact Lenoir city's central office and ask for a layout of the schools zoning area. You will not have to dispute my word the kid lives in kingston (roane county). Why do you care so much anyway? It happens all the time. I'm just tired of living in Loudon county and being told our schools are over crowded, taxes will have to be raised and it's for kids who don't even live in loudon county, their parents aren't paying the taxes here so I'm basicly supporting their kid, it's not just Hood he just sticks out everyone wanted to know where this kid came from, people were courious. If LC wants to allow out of county kids they need to be like Maryville or Oak Ridge and have open enrollment with a tuition. But like coachinhoops said tuition was an issue for Hood. Also if I'm wrong why do the travelers have Hood listed as from Kingston/Lenoir City? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
