Well lets just say this yes kids can come from places all around the town of jackson. The thing here is we are not a huge town JCS has to share students with 2 other private schools in jackson and with 4 public and just to really break it down for you.

I don't think anyone is saying JCS recruits players like some other private schools may have, but private schools do have a slight advantage based on numbers.

For example, Jackson's population is over 10 times that of Rockwood or Harriman. Even if the schools were forced to draw from population based districts, the population pool would be 2:1 in favor of Jackson schools. Open up the entire 60,000+ population for a school and the talent pool is increased by 10 times. Obviously, the overall talent gets spread out more throughout all Jackson schools, but there is a much larger talent pool for that would allow any private school in Jackson to choose from.

The pure numbers suggest that a private school in Jackson (especially a good school like JCS) would draw more talent consistently compared to a small rural town. The number of state championships by private schools compared to public schools over the past 10 years supports this.

That being said, it is what it is & the games are decided on the field.

Here is the thing i dont know much about many teams outside west tennessee but i have seen a few of these teams play. I just see how you can think a state tournament can be one by the east tennesse teams i am not gonna guess a team but, i am gonna say you will see one of the west tennesse teams play for it all if not both and if that is not the case a middle tennesse team may make it in. it's just a fact and its time to face it east tennesse cannot play with middle and west.

Well aside from Huntingdon, McKenzie, and the private schools, Single A baseball in west TN pretty much $uck$ too.

For a winner, I'll take whoever comes out of that top bracket with FCS, JCS and Summertown.

So your team only has 9? I think they were talking about enrollment. Believe it or not it might be a little harder be competitive with less kids to choose from. Good Luck with your 9.

i'm talking about on the field, i don't like private schools playing in the same classification as regular schools but i can't do a thing about it.as far as 9 goes you can only start 9 at a time you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out what i meant.

238,500,or 1,000 all you need is 9

This could be the dumbest and most overused statement in sports."you can only put 11 on the field ata a time" or "all you need is nine"

I tell you what you pick your 9 having 1,000 kids tryout and I'll pick my 9 from 238,500 and well see who has the best team at the end of the day.

Well then east and middle tenn must really stink. Both west tenn teams in finals.

Heard the same smack last year outta West TN and then saw JCS run-ruled by FCS in the finals and Huntingdon leaving the boro with their tail dragging as well. Hope you show up with better pitching than what we saw from West TN 1A's last year. Summertown, Richland, LV, and FC are for real and have played and beaten some of the big AA and AAA programs in their areas as well. Keep talking the smack and you'll leave the Boro disappointed---again. This tournament is about solid hitting and depth in your pitching staff. Fall into the losers bracket and you better have 4 or 5 top pitchers.

Nice call singlea, JCS and Huntingdon playing for Championship. You were right about not falling in the losers bracket though. Neither team did that. The 'ship is coming back to West Tenn this year. Go Stangs!!

opinions are like rearends everybody's got one.you missed the point dillweed.i'm tired of everyone complaining about private and public schools in the same class using the multiplier or whatever it is they do .they need to put private in one public in the other and be done with it.but the t$$aa cannot make money that way.

I agree with you on splitting public and private , but your statement "you only need 9 " makes it sound like you believe if you have 9 kids in the school you have the same chances as anyone else to win.
