Baylor and McCallie both struggled last year. Not real sure what they have coming back. I do remember that Baylor was hit with an unprecented amount of injuries....had a ton of starters out and many were seniors. I have not heard the rumor about Jarod Coleman....BJ's kid brother. Does anyone know if he is leaving McCallie?

BA and Ensworth. Then MBA. I think the Chattanooga teams are in for another struggle this year.

Anyone confirm the rumor that Jarod Coleman, BJ's brother, is headed to BA to play for Ralph Potter?

Go ahead and schedule it again for the sixth time.

MBA vs. BA

Only question is if BA can finally beat MBA. MBA is 5-0 vs BA in State Championship games.

Who else is there in the league

Father Ryan- peaked last year

Ensworth- will be better but still lacks depth

BGA- will have a nice season, good sleeper pick but not quite ready for D2 big boys

JP 2- no chance

Webb - lost everyone

Baylor - same old Baylor

McCallie - will be better but not good enough

and Memphis doesnt count...haha...

It looked like that was going to happen. But, in the end Jarod's grandfather did not want to move and the family did not want to leave him.

If MBA provides BA the opportunity, I will be even more impressed the Big Red's coaching staff than I was last year. They lost a bunch of starters.

MBA had a huge number of seniors last year. They were able to get some younger players some experience in "mop up" situations, but that's not the same as meaningful playing time. They may be a little thin this year. The freshman and JV teams were both unbeaten, but that's not a great indicator (still, better than saying they were both winless).

BA seemed to have a lot of Jr's and Sr's starting last year on a very good team. If I had to bet the pension, painful though it would be, I'd have to lean twards BA. I wish MBA still had your defensive coordinator.

Ryan had a good team last year (good, not great); I don't know what they lost to graduation.

Ensworth will always be talented, but if the numbers they project for enrollment hold, they will always have depth issues. In other words, they're a really good team that's always a torn ACL and a shoulder separation from mediocrity.

BA was predominately starting underclassmen last year. They lose (I think) 3-4 offensive starters and 2-3 defensive starters. The team dressed 47 freshmen btw. Of the returnees, there are 2 top DI prospects (McHaney and Bullard) with offers from everybody, and 3 others (Dabney, Caruthers, and J. Martin) that may be D1 also. They lost C. Jordan, but return Josh Tate, who is excellent. If the QB grows into the offense (Soph last year), I think they will just be awesome.

Certainly from what I saw, if BA isn't in the finals, somebody needs to call for an investigation.

Not sure about some of the other teams but McCallie should improve with alot of players who gained alot of maturity. Will be interesting to see how the offense will run with addition of Coach Ateca. We had a lot of new faces out at spring practice although many were absent due to spring commitments. For the most part I like the looks of Tigertown's layout on first look. Still way way early!

Looking forward to some great games and selling alot of dogs and pizza!

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
