daynknight
Looks like Team Tennessee has gotten off to a strong start==getting a win from a freshman! For a link to tournament summaries see: http://www.tbca.org/2008juniorsunbelt.htm#Linescore I also heard that the Stallings kid is bangin' the ball ALL over the yard. cbg
What is the purpose of the Sunbelt Tournament? Is it to showcase the top junior players from Tennessee? If this is true should the TBCA not limit the "Junior Team" to those individuals that have just completed their junior season? The Sunbelt folks have a sophmore division and we could send another team to showcase the younger kids. Don't get me wrong the younger kids that have played for Tennessee have done great but they are taking a spot from another player that may need the exposure. daynknight
You may be shocked as to what this individual knows and does not know! Would you like to try and answer the question? The states' coaches apparently wanted to show that great baseball is played in Tennessee, and picked their top team with that in mind. I guess cbg feels it was unfair to give the mound to a 13-game winner from a state championship, nationally ranked team who holds the record for strikeouts in a state tournament game and had the most scoreless innings pitched in this year's tournament. But others would say the kid proved he belonged when he pitched a complete opening game win over Georgia (which has many more top players than Tennessee). They would say the Norris freshman from Science Hill proved he belonged when he got a key hit for the win against last year's champion, Missouri, and that Tennessee's high school coaches are a bunch of old-school guys who apparently got it right. I understand that cbg and others might think that Tennessee shouldn't have such players there to give its top team the best chance to win as many games as it can, regardless of their race, age, origin, year in school, or whatever. But then, some still believe in merit that shines between the lines, even if it is not politically correct.

turnin two
the team is selected from players who are nominated by their high school coach. Credit those who are playing for this team regardless of their class. alot of good juniors arent on this team because their high school coach isnt that involved in the TBCA or the players didnt ask their coach to nominate them.
