Could someone please enlighten my here..............What is the TSSAA attempting to "legislate" with this rule?? If they dont want a High School Coach to Coach "his" Team in Summer ball..........then say that! If they are attempting to force some boyz to quit playing or practicing Baseball for a couple of weeks in summer......then get a life?? I will attempt to be consistant here after responding to another post on here about Showcase tryouts for yet another one of these being held this Sunday!! Why in the WideWorld Of Sports would you have a Senior Showcase of Any KIND before the State Tournamnet is over???? Is this a bone being thrown to the teams that lose and dont get to go to States???

I am still a little confused after reading all these posts....... But, why do they have tryouts before the State Tourney is over??? If that is the case..........that is very very stupid!!

Must be a slow time in Baseball............either that or we have run out of the "who is the best reserve 2nd baseman who leadsoff in the 10th grade in East TN" thread????

A better question would be............ Is your teams BEST hitter the one with the highest batting average???

Welcome to the club............Knox County cut out ALL Middle School Sports except Basketball..........in the Mid 80s. They exist now as non-sanctioned club sports teams including Baseball that just started this year. Our local Middle School has a Track, Golf, Soccer, Baseball, etc. team...................just NOT affiliated by TSSAA or the School. They reconginze it, honor it, know it, ETC.THEY JUST DONT FUND IT!!!

Kev, I understand most think UT Baseball is in a death spiral,,,but shouldn't you state "rebuild" the program. In my humble opinion, Coach D built the program and is now finding it hard to get to into the Post Season. If that is reason to fire him, then fire him....but we dont have to go overboard.

Memphis, Smephis, BA, DA..........or any Academy..........They ALL recruit and publics are indeed worse than most of the Privates. Here is Knoxvegas, recruiting is rampant among Publics. Depends on what you call recruiting. Most of it is done by parents, who get good athletes to join them at their school of choice based usually on good coaches and a WINNING program. The latter is the critical component. This is usually a result of these athletes playing on travel teams together. It is done in ALL sports, male and female. Now comes the rough part. How do they get to their school of choice. Do the move, trasfer or what?? If you live in Knox Co. you must move(UNLESS you are a minority) because it is Zoned Co. that does enforce it?? The surrounding counties, (Blount and Anderson for example) can accept "outsiders" for a Fee? How much that is, depends. But it is legal? So, if you see GOOD athletes going to schools in other districts from where they live.........you can bet your sweet "bippey" they were recruited. But, was it the coach or parents or team members or all the above. And HOW did they end up in the school of choice = did the move, get a scholarship or cheat?? I inserted a lot of ??? here, more than willing to be corrected or given the exact numbers but, this is the way I interrupt the recruiting in Knoxvegas!! :justwrestle:
